Why break a good trio? We have seen Slaf with Dach.....It did not work.

Let Demidov get used to the NHL arena in the second line. It give you 2 dangerous trio.
Agreed, I don't see us breaking up the top line. If anyone were to be separated it would be Caufield to complement the play style of an offensive dynamo (Caufield/Demidov), cerebral 2way center (Suzuki), and big forechecking player (Slaf). Don't think it'd be fair to Cole to bring him to the second line with how he's playing, Demidov will have to outperform him tremendously for it to be considered.

The powerplay is a different story where we can afford to put all the best offensive guys on the 1st unit (Laine, Suzuki, Demidov, Caufield, Hutson).

What can the Habs do to optimize Demidov 's development?
Let him win his spots and his ice time, instead of handing that to him on a silver platter simply because he is a prestigious draft pick, Slafkovsky-style.

The adversity is part of what makes him a better player. Getting results out of your prospect is a marathon, not a 100m race.

Demidov haters on the main board.

I can't help but get excited that hutson and demidov - our two most dynamic prospects - are what seems to the final piece in our 'core' for this generation. I don't consider Dach to be a core player, but CC/Suz/Slaf absolutely.

Even if Demidov arrives in the NHL and needs time to play to his potential, his injection into the lineup is going to really take the team in the direction they need to go.

Montreal needs another Center as a core player (1C or 2C), especially if Dach is not considered to be one.

Maybe Hage will become that! I have high hopes for this player and he's having a hell of a first season in the NCAA. let him cook an other one and come to laval in 2 years or maybe make the club for that matter.

Pretty cool that he’s playing on an NHL size rink so we don’t have to hear about how long it will take him to adjust all summer

Kid is a freak, we deserve this prize after our drafting and development from 2010-2020
oh make no mistake he'll have to cook in the ahl for 10 years :sarcasm:

Yet not a single NHL team does that with 1st overall pick or top pick having Demidov's pedigree. Not a single one.

I don't think you're giving him enough respect. He deserves more respect than that.
Exactly. Kiprisov is a petite player, part of the reason Minny will never get over the hump when it counts..

Demi is a legit sized NHLer at 6'1" 192lbs and growing. Nope, our guy is the real deal, no more small guys on the Habs. Room for CC and Hutson.. after them, no more.

Rottenberg is that you :sarcasm:
Nothing more upsetting to a team than handing out unmerited minutes to a rookie, he can earn his minutes like everyone else. Given his skill and apparent drive it should not take long.

Kirill is indeed shorter then Demidov but he's at 202 pounds according to HDB but I agree Demi will probably be around 205-210 at 6 foot 1 inch and thats amazing!

Now is the time to trade Dach.. he's playing decently, seems to be over his injury and fears.. aint no way he's going to settle in as a 3rd line winger, which is what he is..

Package him up, along with picks to attain that 2C.

I kniw alot on here are tough on BUF, but id be willing to trade Dach , Newhook, and CGY 1st for Cousins.

It's also upsetting when the vets don't deserve the TOI. I'd say even more than a rookie cause you know the vet wont improve. Sadly outside of Susuzki and Caufield pretty much nobody else really deserve top 6 TOI on this team. So we'll do like anyone else and try kids and hope they improve,

My first year college i was a proud 4C with two vet wingers.. "we" banded together to make ourselves valuable - and by mid season got promoted as a line to become the 3rd string checkers, pkers, and end of period shut downs..

By end of season we were even stealing some pp time from line 2.

Vets are way overrated.. unless they themselves are legit contributors. It took me (a 17yo rookie) to tell the my vet wingers - dudes, we aren't getting drafted to the NHL, what else can we do to earn our merit? Let's effing prove everyone wrong!

On this college team, each rookie is given a vet roomate. My vet was team captain and #1RHD.. even he was blown away what we accomplished. Thats part of the fun of sports!

By year 3 i was 1C and preaching this to my rookie pair. It's a process. Outside the clear creme de la creme, there is a swath of decent players jockeying for position on myriad teams across North America..

NHL is for the best of the best.. 4Cs "were" 1Cs in junior/college.. once the ego is checked, any and all minutes should be used to make an impact. Demidov is a superstar - he can make any line he is on amazing.

Holy moly bro chill. I know we are excited about Demidov for good reason, but comparing his potential impact to the likes of generational players, can we put a little less pressure on the guy before he even plays a single NHL game lmao.
If you assess his abilities and age/comps there is no reason not to be excited. He's the real deal. Don't fret, i know we've been jaded for offense for decades.. we finally have a winner.

Agree with this 100%. You can just see that Demidov is an impact player. he has only gotten better & better as the season goes by. He could have easily had more points if he started out on the first line and got big minutes. But you know what? He's worked hard and grabbed those big minutes and has continued to produce. I can't say that I can't wait til next year, because I want to see us try to continue to do well this year, but I think these injuries are really going to hurt us due to our lack of depth.
