Prospect Info: Ivan Demidov (2024 5th OA): SKA St. Petersburg (KHL)

I don't think anyone hear follows Beck closer than this writer.

Whatever the reason, and I never like to start with excuses, the bottom line is that Beck couldn't create separation for himself: the hallmark, (at least in this writer's opinion) of a player's readiness to play in the NHL. Does it mean he's not a good prospect? Absolutely not. Only that he's not ready yet. It may well happen to Demidov. Let me watch Demidov play a couple of games against true NHL caliber players, on the smaller rink, and I will be able to say, in my opinion, whether he is ready. The rest is just all talk.

The KHL already has NHL sized rinks.

They've moved to NHL Ice rink prior year,
Most* KHL teams do.
It's not like he doesn't do any worse on the size of ice rink, do you guys watch hockey?

Yeah, SKA has an NHL rink. Most of the big name KHL teams do too. Usually it’s less prominent teams that might have old rinks with the bigger size. A large majority of Demidov’s games are played on NHL sized rinks.

Thank you Trevor Timmins, assistant director amateur scouting CBJ.

Trevor Timmins probably still has PTSD from drafting Andrei Kostistsyn instead of Jeff Carter, Dustin Brown, Ryan Getzlaf, Ryan Kesler, Corey Perry, etc. you know, your typical North American kid with huge size and scoring instincts.

Him going with Cayden Lindstrom is absolutely not surprising knowing his past failures. We should thank Andrei Kostitsyn that Ivan Demidov fell to the Habs :teach:

I’ll dust off my AK46 Reebok edge as an hommage then.

Could someone make a mixtape highlights video of Demidov?

Man, YouTube hockey videos used to be so sick in the past. Now it’s just so many armchair scouts and ISO videos with no fun music. Bring me back to SEPTEMBER PATRICK KANE!

Yeah, he couldn’t find separation within a small sample size under tough circumstances. Let it play out for ~10 games then make that evaluation. Basically 1 game of tired hockey.

This is why the NHL gives teams 10 games to evaluate a prospect before deciding if they should let a contract slide. They know teams can’t reach a conclusion after 15 mins of ice time.

BTW … Demidov doesn’t have to get used to smaller ice. His home barn is NHL size.

De-mi-God scored a hatty today wow just wow the kid is getting better and better and better and really opening up everyone's eye if they haven't already...man Chicago,Anaslime and Columbus were Dumb dumb to not draft this Talented youngster he's going to be a Super-Star in the NHL
