Agreed, but he was a beast prospect!Vlad Jr is ok, the real Vladdy was something else, hopefully Demidov is more like him

I hereby proclaim that @DKH is my new friend. Ivan Demidov will be a star and true fans of the game love star players no matter the crest on the front of the jersey.

Leafs in round 2??????Come to read about Demidov and @OldCraig71 and some Bruins fan are having a love fest.
Strange times indeed.
We need a playoff series against those Mofos!
And then round 2 against the Leafs.
Im not arguing against "worth" to a lesser team.. but Stamkos comes to mind, im sure he regrets chasing the dough to the Nashville.. he had such a great gig in TB.The thing is most NHL players would have the same work/life balance and the same personal commitments no matter any "franchise" (I hate calling sports teams Franchises... they're not Subway Sandwich shops!). The differences are reduced and thus then get magnified: cost of living, taxes, quality of the city, quality of the "franchise", likelihood of success, "vibes", etc.
For a lot of players since playing in city X is more or less the same as playing in city Y, they have every reason to chase the bag.
Rantanen is a top player in the NHL, his playoff PPG is that of a 100pt player (!!!), with the cap going up he will get paid and maybe will get the biggest UFA contract in NHL history. He'll have earned it.
Not sure what happened between TB and Stamkos but it could be as simple as they simply couldn't afford him even at 8m.Im not arguing against "worth" to a lesser team.. but Stamkos comes to mind, im sure he regrets chasing the dough to the Nashville.. he had such a great gig in TB.
That's not a real equation. The equation GMs need to consider is: $14m Rantannen + $1m journeyman vs CC + NS (which better insurance against injury)?
i think there has been so much history between these both teams............the hate will reignite after one playoff game. Fans, Media, and of course the players............it goes both ways and it's crazy! They had our number indeed, but the rivalry was quite high. fuelled even more by the hate of losing.
I really never hated a team more then those bruins. in a way, if you beat a rival consistently you tend to hate them less no?
whatever it is I for one would like to see us nab a superstar for three years to coincide with Demidov's ELC. not doing so will waste a huge opportunity to chase the cup.Not sure what happened between TB and Stamkos but it could be as simple as they simply couldn't afford him even at 8m.
That's not a real equation.
It's [14m UFA + 1m acquisition] vs [7.5m UFA/acquisition + 7.5m UFA/acquisition]
Imagine if Demidov had refused to put on the Habs sweater!?
Which Superstar could we grab for three years?whatever it is I for one would like to see us nab a superstar for three years to coincide with Demidov's ELC. not doing so will waste a huge opportunity to chase the cup.
Pionk, Hutson and Matheson on the top 4???Which Superstar could we grab for three years?
Also, please be aware that Demidov will likely cost us 4.65M or so as a rookie, not chump change exactly when trying to fit another Superstar under the Cap ceiling.
Overall skilled depth will give us a shot at the Cup, not fitting in a huge contract and liquidating skill on then third and fourth lines.
I'd spend money on a RHD UFA like Pionk, for example I'm running with some other poster's suggestion) and ice a top-4 of...
Guhle - Pionk
Hutson - Matheson
...to start the season while Reinbacher plays in Laval at the beginning of next year. When we move Matheson at the trade deadline, we can pair up Hutson with Reinbacher:
Guhle - Pionk
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Carrier/Mailloux/Engstrom
If not Pionk (29, RHD),
Chychrun (26, LHD)
Ekblad (28, RHD)
Ceci (31, RHD)
Lindgren (26, LHD)
Provorov (28, LHD)
are the only interesting Ds (of which there are only 2 RHDs) who can also potentially become UFAs at the end of this year.
Unless you want a cheaper gamble on the mobile Dante Fabbro who can also potentially become an UFA at the end of this season?
100pct agrée. When I see younger fans speaking of a leafs rivalry, I realise how much a whole generation missed due to to the team being notoriously badi think there has been so much history between these both teams............the hate will reignite after one playoff game. Fans, Media, and of course the players............it goes both ways and it's crazy!
Nothing like Bruins/Habs rivalry
my top 2 memoric moment from that draft

We have here in the studio today one Julian Pepe Ozeima, thank you for coming in.
Sir there are no dumb questions on this forum , everyone here is easy going and loving. I believe he can?probably not the smartest question but can demidov come once his season is over?

Out of curiosity (please educate me) how can an ELC be ~$4.5m?Which Superstar could we grab for three years?
