I always saw Demidov as a playmaker. Is nice to see him score goals.
I think he's been cast as a playmaker simply because more often than not, the right play for him is a pass. Clearly, he's comfortable with his shot, and uses it when required. But I would argue that the way he is typically defended, a pass is usually the more effective option. His style of play is very much "hold the puck, cause chaos, pass the puck to wide-open teammate for tap-in goal." Opponents often try to double team him which leaves someone open, an option that Demidov then exploits.

Our shooters are going to have a field day when he gets here.

KHL team SKA is not in a good space right now from the sound of it.They just released Tony DeAngelo, and there are rumours swirling around about Roman Rotenberg’s resignation as head coach. The team sits in seventh place in their conference.

The team also filed a protest with the KHL and the Ministry of Sport because fans of other teams started chanting mean things at them like “SKA is the shame of Russian hockey”. Lokomotiv was fined by the KHL for its fans’ taunting of the army team.

Spartak fans chanted “SKA is the disgrace of Russian hockey” earlier in the season, which sent Rotenberg into a frenzy.SKA is claiming that there is media-led PR campaign against the team management and coaches. “

“ Rottenberg is alleging this campaign is coming out of…Montreal”

Exactly. The forward version of Hutson, except Demidov has the strength to also run you over if he so chooses to.

Caufield/Laine is going to score a lot of goals because of the space Demidov is going to open up.

As a young player in team full of vets, he probably wanted to be a good teammate and pass more. He is gaining more confidence now. He is showing is goal scoring ability.

Even in the MHL, when he was easily the best player in the league, he still had far more assists than goals. It's simply the nature of his game. He draws the defenders to him, then dishes to a teammate for a higher-percentage shot. Exactly what Hutson and Dach did to Utah last night.

To me, both Goalchenyuk and Kotkaniemi were promised to get a good NHL career. Skills were there, but they never reached their potential because of nightlife, arrogance, no efforts to work on their game. These kinds of behaviours are less predictable
Galchenyuk should’ve been better than he was. Even with the attitude issues, even with the defensive warts… he had talent and proved it when given a chance.

Therrien was the wort thing that could’ve happened to him. Badly misused and exactly the kind of drill sargeant coach he didn’t need. Just an awful environment for him. Then he ran into injury problems.

KK started well and then CJ tanked the rug out from under him. He ever really played that well again. He had lots of opportunity to play in Carolina (a good team) and didn’t have the injury issues that Galchenyuk ran into. That was just a bad pick. I don’t think we did him any favours in terms of development and to this day I don’t know why CJ abruptly benched him. But he had a lot of opportunity to develop and never did. To me that’s on the player.

Both those players came from weaker drafts. Demidov is much more highly touted than either of those guys were. And he’s got the good fortune to develop under MSL. I think his odds of panning out are infinitely higher.

False. CJ helped him as much as he could. The kid should had been sent to Finland for another or two seasons. Not CJ’s decision. As for Galchy, the kid was listening more to his dad and he had a very active social life in MTL.

Does he really believe we’re pulling the strings of Spartak and Lokomotiv fans in attendance at SKA games?

Do you think this guy is not? C'mon bruh, you know better than this.

Also, it's a known fact that Galchenyuk's development was severely hindered by a scammer skating coach from Montreal. He never recovered from that.

As for KK, he was just too arrogant to ever develop.

Benching him while he was playing well did not help him.

I don’t disagree. That doesn’t mean that CJ helped him though. How the hell are you helping a player when you bench him as he’s playing well?

Look at Michkov. Was doing great and then Torts benched him. Did that help? He’s struggled ever since.
Not CJ’s decision.

Sure. He had issues. But Therrien made things worse, not better. And MB is an idiot for not returning Larry Robinson’s phone call.

I’m just glad that Demidov won’t be subjected to that kind of clown show here.

lol thought the same.

That being said, everyone was pleased with KK’s rookie season. Especially for how young he was and still so physically awkward.

A lot of people seemed to think he had no upside. That wasn’t the problem. The problem was he didn’t improve.
Problem was, and is, he couldn’t skate. Same thing for Galch.
