I bought hard into the Galchenyuk hype so I can't say this is by far the most excited I've been for a prospect, but he's right on par for me. Even when he wasn't playing, I knew there was a light at the end of the tunnel and it wouldn't matter once we could pry him out of there.

Now that he's actually getting ice time and making his coach look like a joke it's even sweeter.

I said in the draft that Demidov selection change everything for the Habs future.

We all see that Lane Hutson change the PP for this team.

Now, it's going to be Ivan Demidov next year who will transform the forward group.

He will make his teammates even better, I'm 100% confident that Slafkovsky will shine with Demidov (even if they don't player together on 5v5).

There are rumors suggesting that SKA could fire the coach or he may step down. Over the previous 2 years SKA won 80 games by far better then any team but this year they went into today sitting 7th in their conference. The pressure is on from the sounds of it, but the coach is a dumbass as he has no one to blame but himself. How in the world can you watch Demidov then in games you are losing, chose not to use him on the PP for weeks at a time.

It's funny because we (me included and probably most of all) all sit here and think it's a grand conspiracy of SKA trying to pressure Demidov to sign so they sit him to send a message...

What if it is that the guy is just an absolute moron? What if he is legit the only guy in the room thinking he's making Demidov a better player for sitting him? That's the even funnier option (not for Demidov obviously, but just from an optics standpoint).

he did, after Radulov's goal in the 1st, you can see it here at the 3:14 mark, there was over 8 mins left in the 1st and he didn't see the ice again till about 4 mins into the 2nd. The guy that just snapped a 6 game goal scoring streak and just had 10 pts in 5 games and he benches. At least he finally woke up and he ended up with almost 18 mins for the 4th time in the last 6 gms, he even got 1:01 on the PP.

He missed coverage, at least this Rotten guy getting him ready for any type of NHL coach. I'm sure that will result in a bench as a rookie under a lot of hard ass NHL coaches like Torts.

That's why I have been a big supporter of MSL as coach. For the early parts of the season we kept hearing some on here saying they need to fire MSL but for me as the person who may put the most stock in the importance of proper development and the impact a coach has on that development over just about any other posters on this board. I am huge on proper development and finally we got a head coach that seems to understand how to develop offensive talent.

No more of the well you made a mistake so now you sit on the bench and then it's a week or more in the press box to learn to be a better person and then it's back to the AHL weeks later only to have that prospect look like shit when they go back down, then rinse and repeat over and over with the same sorry ass results. Finally someone gets it, you have to put these kids in the position and live with the mistakes, previous coaches wouldn't but thankfully we have MSL who I think will be great for Demidov and I can not wait to see the Hutson-Demidov show next year.

Because this is a Demidov thread, i don’t bother discussing SKA, but I was wondering the same thing this week, how is this team so bad despite the big names and budget. That’s without even adding Demidov.

Look if RR gets fired, I’ll say to our good friend Zine that im sorry. He was right. There’s no big conspiracy. RR really is indeed the dumbest coach in the history of the world. But I’ll need to see it to believe it.

Scotty Bowman on Ivan Demidov:

"I think he’s got a chance to be a star! Montreal’s the mecca of hockey, and if he decides to sign there, he’s going to be well accepted!"

“Sometimes the risk-reward is worth it. Montreal could use some real high-end stars, and I think he’s got a chance to be one!”

“He’s going to enjoy the culture. It’s all hockey. There’s no baseball, no NFL. Hockey’s number one!”

Every time I think Scotty Bowman's superlatives, I think of Kotkaniemi, and now I'm depressed.

Bowman was tough as nails. But he’s mellowed. He always has positive things to say about Montreal, Habs players and prospects. That’s how we need to take it. It says more about Bowman than Demidov.

Bowman is 91. He's been out of the game for a few years and has in a practical sense (i.e. being more than a consultant with the team his son was GM for) been out of the game for around 20 years.

The idea that Bowman is in his 90s bums me out more than any of his takes on players right now, I hope he lives a lot longer with the faculties to enjoy hockey and life.

lol thought the same.

That being said, everyone was pleased with KK’s rookie season. Especially for how young he was and still so physically awkward.

A lot of people seemed to think he had no upside. That wasn’t the problem. The problem was he didn’t improve.

To me, both Goalchenyuk and Kotkaniemi were promised to get a good NHL career. Skills were there, but they never reached their potential because of nightlife, arrogance, no efforts to work on their game. These kinds of behaviours are less predictable

Yep..easy now to say that kk was a bad pick...but as a 18 years old.. he did 33 points.

..and then something happen during the Summer..no training at all except tennis and he did not listened no one...

Second year starts: ..and he was like a young Deer on the ice..always on his ass.
