We all know that, but players have been released early in the past when their team has been done. Sounds like Nikishin, Demidov’s teammate, will be allowed to leave as he’s older and served more time with SKA. What @Andrei79 is asking is whether or not there is a chance that Demidov’s release be granted early if SKA is bounced from the playoffs despite what’s being leaked in the mediaHis contract run out in May. Those same SKA owners, which is state owned Gazprom, are letting Nikishkin out of his contract…SKA is owned by people with deeper pockets than Montreal. They don't need whatever money Montreal might offer them.
And the optics of trying to send money (bribe, basically) to an oligarch-owned russian team to get a player across the pond might not be in the best interests of the Canadiens given the current political climate.
SKA's owners have also been an integral part of the recent change of KHL rules to extend players' contract until May for the express purpose of not losing talent to NHL teams before the season in the KHL is fully done, so I don't really know if they'd be all that excited over meeting us over backwards and letting us bring Demidov over before his contract is fully over.
I’ve never heard of rich people saying no to money and I’ve had my share of spending time with them. Money always talks however, we had indications (I forget the source) that Habs ownership was not interested in putting in any money to accelerate Demidov’s release, so the issue is academic. And that’s assuming that NHL teams can throw money at the KHL/ team holding rights to make it happen.SKA is owned by people with deeper pockets than Montreal. He is free may 31st unless they release prior to that.Which day of May is his contract done? May 31st?
Can he be given a pto, lol?
see if Fedex can ship him over
Not a good risk: he’d probably get porch pirated by some loser team out for a quick bump of adrenaline....25% Tariff for not involving the US and Ottawa forfeits their 1st...
I say 3 days for a working visa, and instant spot on the second line. But the release would need to come as soon as the season ends for SKA.If, say, SKA season is over in 2 days, and Montreal bosses somehow convince Rotten to let Ivan go, when the earliest he'll be able to play for the team? Canadiens have games on April 11, 12, 14 and 16.
He won’t fired himself lolIf Rottenbrain gets fired, there might actually be hope he comes over ? I would love to ask Russian posters, but the only ones who come here are only there to tell us how stupid and ignorant we are as a group.
Like sure, we are, but give us real info you dorks. We don't care about cultural differences, we care about drinking beer and seeing Demidov score against the Bruins.
No, Demidov isn’t coming this yearI wonder if the hold up on Fowler is related to Demidov’s uncertain status. Isn’t there a limit of 50 contracts per team?
I meant June 1st. I believe his KHL obligations end May 31st.I’ve never heard of rich people saying no to money and I’ve had my share of spending time with them. I do believe it might be possible for Demidov to buy his way out if he were able to come up with the money on his own but a substantial amount is needed and since we’re 2 months away from his official release date anyway, that’s likely not a viable option.
See you on May 30th, Vanya.![]()
I know Laine’s breaking down HuGo’s door on April 4th as soon as SKA goes down. If, say, SKA season is over in 2 days, and Montreal bosses somehow convince Rotten to let Ivan go, when the earliest he'll be able to play for the team? Canadiens have games on April 11, 12, 14 and 16.
