That's a disgusting assist. How cheeky you have to be to even attempt that.

Edit - I'm not convinced it was an accident. He's doing this sort of thing far too often for me to believe it's just lucky.

Just saw the highlight of the assist. I was expecting it to be obviously a fan but I think it might have been intentional as well. His wrist rotates and he opens the face of the blade before releasing changing the angle the puck comes off.

yeah I think it's a fan on a pass and not a shot. might have been a 5 hole shot or a pad shot for a pass too

People still think he fanned on his 'kucherov goal' in the pre-season as well
*shakes head* Lol

Because of the salary cap, teams are more often (and really, always have) drafting for need because the earlier those players are drafted, the earlier they're expected to make the team and make an impact.

Both the Hawks and Habs looked at their team right now and where it was going to be in the close future and determined that both Lev & Reinbacher would be better "fit now" pieces than the other guys they might have drafted.
and i think that is a mistake, you never skip the best player, not ever, it's insane. Montreal could have had Hughes, Brady, Dobson, Michkov etc. but they chose a C that was a reach in the top 12 and a dman with leg braces. I know i'm in the minority here, but you just don't pass on the BPA ever, unless its a dead heat and you can choose between a D or a forward. Even then it isn't certain you are going to do well, look at Buffalo with those two 'Can't miss blueliners' and how much balls they suck because they forgot to get a goalie at some point.

I get your overall point but in terms of the KK draft, we've been over this a ton but Brady was by far and away the most undesirable pick here. I guarantee you were around for it and I say it's pretty likely he wasn't your #1 choice that year.

Guys like Marchand, Point, Kucherov etc would have been picked a hell of a lot higher if scouts had crystal balls. You don't know what players will become, only what you can bank on.

You’re not in the minority for wanting Michkov lol come on. You’re in the minority for thinking Reinbacher’s a plug lol.

I was like one of three who wanted Reinbacher more than any forward that wasn’t Bedard or Carlsson leading up to the draft.

Now need vs. Bpa is a tough one. You have to weigh BOTH. Reinbacher could still be BPA here but let’s say that Michkov was the BPA AT THE DRAFT; it isn’t by a big enough margin where you IGNORE our glaring need for an RD.

If you have two players close enough in your respective rankings no GM in the world is going to just not pay attention to positional need/rarity.

Reinbacher has stud pedigree and has only shown as much since arriving in NA. Injuries are a concern but there was no indication of an injury history.

I mean, I don't think there's a single team that goes up there thinking we're going to pick a player we don't think is the best available at the time we're drafting.

No one says, yeah we're going to pick the 7th best player available because he fits a need.

I also don't think "need" can be ignored as part of any pick you're making.

Drafting Michkov would have been a needs pick too. We had needs everywhere but LHD.

Don't believe me ? Well, that's what management said. Right after they drafted Demidov they said that they "needed" a player like him. So the high end offensive player was on their radar for quite a while too.

If Hutson would have a great slap shot, he would get 90 + points every seasons.
he can develop that i think. Habs should hire Marc Andre bergeron. I never understood how he could slap so hard with his height and frame. I think if he can develop a snap shot he can be effective because his skating would allow him to shoot from closer than most dmen.
