Bedard was never deemed as "Generational" to the vast majority of general managers and their scouts. He was always viewed a notch below the McDavid's and Crosby's. Franchise player, yes.....generational, no.
He was for sure called generational, I remember clearly. People use that word way too much.

He wasn't by the people that matter. He was deemed that coming into the WHL however as he progressed and entered he draft, they lowered their expectations to franchise player.

Come on, put Chicago is almost a AHL caliber team.. Can’t ask a 19 years old kid to carry that weak line up..

Ask anybody who’s not a Habs fans and they will take Bedard before Demidov without hesitation
Bedard still plays with non commit all, cherry picking junior habits. It has nothing to do with the Caliber of team. It’s his commitment to defence that’s disappointing.

Yeah I'm leaning that way. The only issue I'm having is I plan on going for the cup and wondering if M&M scores more points next season.
He’s gonna need some help. Who’s is Michkovs center? Couturier? If not then woof. Philly has a lot of work to do. MM on the PP is a monster though which often pays off

Chicago's GM and scout rushed to give away Kirby Dach, Alex DeBrincat, and Dylan Strome to improve their odds of drafting Bedard.

Add a bonafide 2C and this team explodes next year.

Caufield - Suzuki - Laine
Slafkovsky - 2C - Demidov
Heineman - Beck - Roy (AHL chemistry)
Anderson- Evans - Gallagher

Kapanen gets to play a full season in Laval.
I would but Evans on the third line and Beck in the fourth. I don't believe Beck is ready to be top 9 next season or surpass Evans (yet). He probably become our 3c in 1-3 years.
You also forgot Dach and newhook. He will be back next season. I don't think kent will trade him this summer or if you can trade a injured player.

It’s so hard to know how good Bedard is because he’s on such a dreadful team. I guarantee you he’d be a million miles better if he were surrounded by decent teammates. He has no one.

Good news for Demidov, he’s coming into a really good young club. The Canadiens have a great future ahead.

Was Bedard over hyped a bit? After watching Celebrini I am more impressed with#71 than I am with #98.
Bedard looked really good in junior, and still looks good in the NHL, but not as good. Shane Wright looked really good in junior, and he's having some challenges at the next levels. Celebrini looks like his endpoint may be higher than either, later peak.

Most guys who destroy junior end up starring in the NHL, Some matured early. It's easier to project the guys who start junior a year or two early than it is to project most junior players, but some of them still bust.

I feel the difference to those who excel in the NHL are habits. Some kids rely on their skill to get by and develop bad habits

But isn't Patrick Kane just short of being a generational player?

I think that term is throw around too loosely. Same with superstar. He's a game breaking talent which I'd consider superstar. But I never considered him the best in the world or even realistically one day overtaking Crosby. It's the same with players like Yzerman relative to Lemieux. They were fantastic but there's a clear gap

Bedard does not have the physical tools to dominate the NHL the way he did in Junior imo

The first thing he needs to do is something I've been preaching since late 2022. Stick to the wing. Play more off puck through the neutral zone and get a dominant playmaker to play with him. The fact that Chicago didn't take demidov to pair with Bedard regardless of position might be one of the biggest fumbles

He’s been off the scoreboard the last couple games. Anyone been watching his games to see how he’s doing?
this link should bring up every Demidov vid I have, which is every game he's played since the start of the MHL playoffs last year,
