As much as I can agree demidov brings a lot to the table but nothing will ever compare generational talent like McDavid, like you just can't.And why do you think so? Based on what?
McDavid's production per 60 minutes is 3.91 pts/60
The top producer in the KHL is J. Leivo with 3.87 pts/60
Demidov as a rookie is 3.82 pts/60
I dont like to make projections only on stats but the eye-test in this case is checking, the physical talents are there, the game style is good and we got the stats to back it off.
And SKA are not pampering him either... so yeah, no, this guy is the real deal and he's going to dominate the NHL when lands here. This is not even a bold statement.
Yes, Demidov will be a dominant player
He will not, unfortunately, be a top 5 player of all time
I will literally bet you all of my money on this and possibly my life as well
Bro is a generational talent at horrible takes, I don’t even know what to sayLemieux is probably the most dominant player of all time, he's 8th.
The Rocket is probably the greatest player of all time who played for the greatest team of all time, no where near the top.
Doesn't mean much honestly.
At Demidov's age McDavid was winning the Art Ross, Hart, and Lindsay lolI think he's better than Bedard and Bedard was called Generational
I think he's got the skills and intensity to match those of McDavid and can develop to become a better player. He's dominating the KHL which is the second best league in the world.
His production is about 30% higher on a per 60 min basis than Michkov's last year
This is right now a description of generational player
Is he going to translate it into the NHL? WHO KNOWS
Even McDavid, wasn't McDavid right away, it took him a few years to hit that Gnerational clutch.
He's got the body and the skills to reach that level in the NHL. He's got the blueprints of a generational talent. Where he was drafted, no one cares.
Bro is a generational talent at horrible takes, I don’t even know what to say
Have a good day man
Your facts:Only in Hfboards, people who have absolutely nothing to say (as you just admitted) come here and start talking and once they're being challenged with facts and based opinions crumble into pieces and fall on their little ego.
Why do you waste my time by responding to me? You made up your own little strawman of "top 5 of all time" and accuse me of having horrible takes when you're the one that can't keep up a a coherent argument.
You said he was a generational talent and you agreed he will dominate but you dont think he'll be close to a top 5 producer of all time? Hello?
Me no comprende
At Demidov's age McDavid was winning the Art Ross, Hart, and Lindsay lol
Demidov absolutely does not have the potential to be better than McDavidHow many 1st rounders were on his team? Not saying he's not good, but the Oilers had to tank really hard to build that team.
Its a team sport, not sure Demidov will be surrounded by enough talent to reach those highs. And we're also skewing the conversation towards something im not even arguing for. I only said he had the potential, i dint say he'll do it.
Some butt hurt fans spinned this as i was saying he'll be for sure better. I just said he can be on that level. Like Kucherov etc.
Demidov absolutely does not have the potential to be better than McDavid
Playing hockeyBetter in what? In pts?
Bingo ! Generational player are the players that where the best of their era.Stop with the generational talk. There ain’t a lot of generational player in this league.
Demidov will be a superstar. But stop with the generational.
I usually don't like the "generational" argument, because it's typically framed as "there can be only one", which simply isn't true. I would argue there are at least 3 or 4 "generational" players currently in the league right now, although at least 2 are very close to retirement. I would argue that Demidov has the potential to be among the top 3 players in the league, if his development continues and he is able to translate his game to the NHL. If that happens, I don't see why the "generational" tag wouldn't apply, particularly because he could be doing things with the puck that no one has ever seen before. It's far from a sure thing though, he could easily top out as a 90 point winger, at which point he wouldn't be anywhere near "generational."
Regardless, I think it's a little early to either write him off or anoint him.
If you think saying he won’t be better than McDavid is restrictive and negative then you cannot be helpedMe too thats how i see it, if you got a 1 generational talent you can easily identify and you have 2-3 other players who are consistently close to his production than you gotta include those players in the conversation as well. This seems to be a logical thing to do... but for some reason, some people can't do the math.
Yeah i dont get why people are so negative and restrictive around here.
"stop with the generational talk" or "he'll never be that good"
so stupid and poor spirited
He's got the potential, he's currently a generational talent in the KHL.
Whats wrong talking about it?
i agree with your point, demidov is gonna be a top forward in the league but generational is so lofty, but we need to stop using chat gpt and think for ourselves cmonchatGBT
At Demidov's age McDavid was winning the Art Ross, Hart, and Lindsay lol
@Lafleurs Guy this thread is getting polluted with folks whining again....@Lafleurs Guy this thread is getting polluted with the generational crap again....
@Lafleurs Guy just saying hi@Lafleurs Guy this thread is getting polluted with folks whining again....
Arguing with people over subjective definitions fills a lot of time on sports blogs and shows but it doesn’t really do much. Like anything else we do here, I suppose. It’s more repetitive than a lot of the other discussions.@Lafleurs Guy this thread is getting polluted with folks whining again....
Weird to hold it against him that he got injured for half the season and then still put up the 3rd highest points per game in the league. Either way, "age" here is referring to calendar year which is pretty much the standard for these discussions. But sure, if Demidov comes over next year and wins the Hart, Art Ross, and Lindsay, I'll consider him generational. At Demidov's age McDavid couldn't even win Calder. In his first NHL season McDavid was less than a month younger than Demidov is right now.
