I only find that preferable to missing out on the playoffs entirely. I was referring to the fact that they have been good enough to take more than one series to the limit. We also unfortunately know that they have not been good enough to ultimately close those deciding games out and advance to the next round. So close and yet so far away. There will definitely have to be changes made to both management and the core if this pattern continues. Starting anew isn't necessarily going to bring any guarantee of greater achievement either though.

We can mock about jumping to conclusions about the standings so early in the season but this type of small sample of most seasons is usually indicative of about 75% of the eventual playoff qualifiers.

Sabres and Detroit for sure are on a hot streak but Flordia is the best team in hockey on paper and on the ice

Their challenge will be to show this isn't a regular season thing only and thst they can play like a top contender in the playoffs

Panthers are incredibly deep and are getting great goaltending. They are legit with 2 spots left for 3 teams (us, Boston, and Tampa)

I wouldn't count Ottawa out just yet. Ottawa has a pretty good team and they work hard

We are giving this core a worse team year after year, the biggest problem with this team is our poor drafting has left us unable to really fill any spots with talented ELC to keep the team deep. I mean, you got that useless giraffe Engvall playing on the PP, that's the state of this team now.

Sandin and Dermott are just ok, Liljegren is struggling to get minutes, Robertson is always hurt and the rest are mainly in Europe and most probably won't ever even come to North America.

I guess we will see, everything people say about the Leafs also applies to the Panthers, I don't think they are as good as others say.

Well, the Panthers are going through a major upheaval now too.

Overall this team does look pretty bad on paper now.... add Connor Brown and Zach Hyman and we have some great 2-way depth on this team. Keep Bunting and keep Kampf.

Hyman Tavares Marner
Bunting Matthews Nylander
----- Kampf Brown
----- Spezza Simmonds

Too bad Dubas wanted to become the 80s Oilers.

We now have a NEW & costlier MUSKOKA FIVE ....with Reilly's new deal we now have a whopping 60% of the cap on 5 players that ....get this...haven't won 1 round....let alone a Cup.
Take a chill pill. There is a 1.5mm difference next year with Tampas top 5 and Tampa gets a tax discount.

You cant compare TB with Toronto's top 5....they've won it all....& may do so again. And us???? You need to remove yor rose coloured glasses & not tell others to take a "chill pill"....haha the TML have been "chilling for 50+ years"....how has that helped them!

I'm sorry. If I knew you didnt mean...

...
But rather meant to say something as banal as Torontos top 5 is likely not as good as Tampa, I likely wouldnt have responded to such great insight. Way above my intellect.

I for one will be disappointed if this core wins a round. My credibility is at stake. I've been telling anyone who will listen that this team is a flaming garbage pile. How will that make me look if they advance? God forbid, Marner has a good series. That'd be my self worth down the toilet there. But I'm too deep. Trade Marner, Fire Shannahan. This team will never win anything with those idiots at MLSE in charge!

Isn't that stat based on American thanksgiving and an Oct 1 season start?
