It's time to name a Captain.

Many began to lean towards Kreider, and as did I, but this postseason has a different story to tell, and possibly shows why Kreider hasn't been named yet. He may still be the popular choice, but I've personally always felt Lindgren would one day be a great Captain.

He has been a captain in the U18 World Juniors, and at the lower leagues. He's been a warrior at every level, full on heart, and a great physical shutdown D-men.

If we were content with Callahan being captain than we should have no problem with a Lindgren captaincy. It would be real nice to have a warrior like him lead this group until maybe it's Laffy's turn.

I want a captain with some bark. Drury, Jagr, Cally, and McDonagh were corporate executives. Fox is more of the same. That’s why I prefer Laf over Fox for the role.

I do too, but going off history I could see them choosing the “diplomat” for the C. In which case I’d want Laf and Lindgren as fiery As. But I’d prefer Laf with Fox and Lindgren.

I think we need to pump the breaks a little bit on Lafreniere. He's still very much a third liner on this team.

Give it to Fox. The simplest solution is the correct one.

I think it should eventually be Lafreniere. It has to be a guy with personality that inspires. Fox is a great player but not very vocal. None of our guys are vocal. I see fire in Alexis. But he's not there yet in the other stuff. But I think eventually he will be the guy and the Rangers know it. Although to be honest the captain right now is clearly Chris Kreider. C or no C and I wouldn't be surprised if they made him captain on opening night.

I think I'm leaning that way as well. You could see that personality in his play during the playoffs. He didn't seem intimidated at all and pulled some wily veteran moves, i.e. the helmet pull in round 1.

I say give it to Lindgren at this point. the way he plays and is a warrior. He has that Captain mentality. Maybe Reaves the way he amps up the team before the game i dont see many with captain leadership on this team. Lindgren is one, Trouba, Kreider maybe Mika , Lafy has leadership qualities we seen it already. I rather wait and give it to Lafy when he is ready to accept the C with Schneider as one of the Alternate captains.

But if not him then I want it to be Fox or Lafreniere. I think Lafreniere has the better makeup but Fox has the credentials that the room can respect. Depends on if you can wait till Laf puts up some respectable production.

Just give it to Goodrow* for a few years until we trade him and one of the kids is ready.
Has experience and wily veteran moves, plays 'hard', has some bark, is prepared to sacrifice his body. Pretty much ticks every 'captain material' box this place seems to come up with except for being one of the best players on the team...

*I doubt we'd do this, and I really don't care who they pick. the Rangers seem to overthink the captain thing far too much

If the locker room doesn't want a captain, then there shouldn't be a captain.
