It's time for Capuano to go

Is it fair to say, maybe he should stay?

Launch your missiles at me now. Just saying,
he might deserve some credit for them playing OK.

I'm not a huge fan, but Id rather him than a lot of others. He is the classic players coach. He is even keeled, perhaps to a fault but I think he deserves to stay. I can't believe I'm saying that!

Me neither - when it wears off, revise and resubmit!!

what the hell is this dumbass thinking ???

STOP PLAYING TAVARES MOULSON AND BOYES ON THE POWERPLAY. I don't care if they have the most skill on paper. they can't score right now. At the moment they suck. Bench them. Better yet scratch them. They are not performing right now.

Plain and simple. you play the guys who produce.

Am I drunk? Did I read this right? Bench Tavares? Oh Wow!

Not when it's obvious that some of his bone headed decisions and/or non-decisions hold this team back from being what they can be. We need a coach with more common sense, period. Some of the changes that can be made are right in front of Cappy's eyes and he STILL doesn't see it. We need a coach who's not afraid to make adjustments, which Cappy clearly is.

The reason you don't decrease Tavares's minutes is because even when he's struggling horribly he can still snipe like he did tonight.

either of you hear of a guy named Darryl Sutter ???

his team gets a powerplay he has his third and fourth liners out there half the time. you can't play someone simply because they're a household name. Even the last goal Tavares scored was simply because Green gave the puck away directly to Moulson right beside the net. other than that they haven't scored a well-earned goal in weeks.

I don't care if McDonald and Aucoin are not superstars. If they have a better game you play them more and play them in place of Tavares and company

I'd suggest only playing that trio on the power play (or against physically weaker teams), and I don't think I'm alone on this one.

players coach or scared to make a change his players may not like?

Players have to earn their minutes not get them. If your grinders/checkers are playing better than your scorers you play the grinders/checkers. I don't care of they don't score. It's all about motivation and sending a message: "you wanna play. give me a reason to play you. show me you deserve it"

Tavares has 4 goals in the last 5 games, and a point in each of those games.

Moulson has 5 points in the last 5 games, and only one game without a point.

In what world is that not producing?

Outside of the six forwards who make up the two units, and Stoll who sometimes plays the point, no one on the Kings averages even 30 seconds of PP time, unless you count Toffoli who has replaced Penner on the PP in the five games he's played since being called up.

I did not like the decision to allow Frans to take that draw he got the penalty on. Major/obvious blunder. Still, the error was somewhat forced by a lack of options.

Cheers,

I WANT MAJOR LINE CHANGES ALREADY.

I really don't care that JTs line has scored a few goals, even very important goals the last 5 or so games. Those goals came in their 1 or 2 good shifts per game. That line doesn't work anymore. It's like a marriage where the flame died out & they need to spice things up. Swap linemates already. Nothing bad will happen. I promise.

You make hockey sound like swinging.:sarcasm:

{creepy stuff if you ask me}

Instead of making a new thread, I'd like to use this one to make penance to Coach Capuano. Capuano is far from a Jack Adams candidate — to name one better candidate, Therrien had his team playing at this level most of the season — but I'm slowly coming around to the idea that Capuano might be the right coach for this team and a good fit for the modern NHL. He comes across as really even-keeled and has overseen the maturation of guys like Hickey and Bailey into important niches.

The players always liked Capuano. The question was always whether they respect him. Winning solves that. So, as someone who wanted Capuano fired as recently as 4 to 5 weeks ago, I'd like to say mea culpa.

As Cappy's biggest hater, I have to give him some credit for the recent success. However, there is still some decisions this guy makes that boggle my mind. Why keep Boyes on the first line? Does he not see how frustrated Tavares is having to play with both Moulson AND Boyes? There needs to be a better RWer on that line. I guess I can kind of see his logic, he may feel like that if he puts Boyes anywhere else then it will mess with the recent chemistry the team has. Either that, or he is just delusional and thinks Boyes is a good fit on that line.

Oh well, keep this team winning and I won't be calling for your heard, that's for sure.

i give him credit for getting these guys to believe in themselves. Off the ice, he may very well be a very good coach.

But as far as strategy, line changes, goalie pulls, and any in game situation, he's just truly dreadful.

Like last year he had Nielsen & Grabner together all year eventhough the line wasn't producing the way it did the year before. finally with about 6 weeks to go in the season he made some changes & we finally started to get some decent secondary scoring.

We don't want Steve Sterling line changes every game, but he has to be more proactive than he's been in trying new things with lines that clearly aren't working.

Have you all gone mad??? Am I the only one here that believes with all my heart that they are winning in spite of Capuano and not because he's such a great coach all of a sudden.

The coaching hasn't changed over the course of the season. The play has. It's about the players, not the coaching. It has been since the beginning.

The fact is that cerain player's ice has gone up (the 2nd line, Hickey-Visnovsky), while others have gone down (Streit, the top line). Is this the result of the coach making a decision, or the players forcing the decision by their play?

We won't know for sure because nobody has an interest to tell us. The coach won't tell us that Streit has sucked and Boyes makes him nervous. He will always want to make his players sound good in the media. At least, Cappy will.

It should be pointed out earlier in the year we were getting like 5-7 powerplays in alot of games, all the guys you mention who are getting reduced icetime were staples of the Powerplay

I believe that Capuano is rolling the lines a bit better, but I don't think he has any clue was a defensive zone coverage is supposed to look like or a breakout. Many of the players have really increased their intensity over these most recent games and I expect that somebody ripped into them a bit, and that doesn't sound like a Capuano sort of thing to do.
