Lucic and Loui are basically a wash from this Oilers fans point of view. Lucic is a gawd awful player but he is at least something of a deterrent. Loui having a 1 yr shorter deal with a ntc rather than a nmc makes him somewhat more “valuable” but it’s like deciding between getting shot or stabbed. If the deal was 1 for 1 without retention obviously the Oilers would do it. I would not pay anything more than a late round draft pick or B- prospect as a sweetener. I totally understand if Nucks fans aren’t willing to do that. I think Looch is in Edmonton for 1 more year, after which his big bonus payments makes his salary vs cap hit much more palatable to the Phoenixs of the world.
