GDT: Its Snuggy Season 7PM

Monty showing tons of confidence in Bolduc in OT.
Bolduc is earning everything. Kid improves every night, loving his game.

Also, I know its just one game, but Snuggy looks a lot closer than Dvo. Snuggy just needs some positioning help and reps w/teammates to develop some chemistry. Dvo's skating is gonna put him on the burner till next year IMO.

Great comeback win. Question for anyone: would you play Snuggerud on Thursday and do you think Montgomery will? Personally I'd say yes, but I'm not 100% sure Montgomery will. He had some flashes in this game but it was also clear he was getting outmuscled consistently. I think he could improve enough in our last couple regular season games to be a valuable option in the playoffs though.

Id keep him in.

I like Matt Joseph and I’m not looking to evict him for the rest of the season.

We play a rather unbalanced team in the penguins at home with last change. I don’t think we’re dramatically changing our chances to win by playing either Snuggerud or Matt Joseph. Therefore I’d get him the reps. He looks super close to me

Bouwmeester.

Don't get me wrong; that trade absolutely paid off down the line.
But the year it took place; not so much.
I'm giving the edge to Fowler for immediate return on investment.

That said, in terms of impact on the ice I think the edge has to go to The Great One(there needs to be a special circle of Hell made just for Mike Keenan).

The win might not have happened if Kyrou hadn't made the biggest hit of his career, flattening a Wings' forward to the ice, when they were streaking for the net, and knocking the puck from him. We're still in shock!!! :hit:
LFG!!

What a game! Talbot was the key reason we weren’t up big from the get go. The boys stuck with it and believed the whole game even if fans were wavering! This team believes and man what a goal and game by Fowler! Way to step up!
Binner didn't face a ton of shots, but man their were a ton of grade a chances it seemed. Winnington's been rolling.

If I’m getting my seasons correct, that trade was done during the lockout shortened season in which Elliott struggled initially and completed shortly after acquiring Leopold.

It’s also a bit different to compare the circumstances for the 2 as Bouwmeester improved an already strong unit and was acquired with the vision of him being around for a long time vs Fowler is immediately elevating a unit that was deeply flawed and is a stop-gap.

I agree. Snuggeruud is much closer to playing regularly on an NHL line than Dvorsky. I think he'll be playing most of The Blues' remaining Regular Season games, and maybe ALL of their Playoff games. They can use his speed and good shooting skill, and he shouldn't be much of a defensive liability after getting several practices in with his teammates. Bad for U of M, but good for The Blues that he was able to join them so early duringThe Tournament.

Dvorsky looked more poised than Snuggerud. He will never be Mike Gartner on skates. I see ROR as a legitimate comparison to Dvorsky in some respects and skating is one of them. Dvorsky is more patient with the puck and controls it better than Snuggerud. That’s great because he’s a center.

I hope we see both in the lineup.

Snuggys stick skills and brain were on display in spurts. He made some nice plays. Liked his process. Hope he gets more opportunity. Looked really comfortable in the 3rd and started really moving his feet and attacking. Had that rush that led to a couple chances and some good work on the walls and on the forecheck.

Our future is bright

Fowlers so smooth and deceptive. Beauty goal, but all game he was great. Super poised with the puck, made alot of great plays in our zone to beat guys buy time and snap the puck up ice tape to tape consistently. Man he's been a godsend.

Snuggy was okay but had some lunps. He showed some flashes on offense but got out muscled easily. But of more concern is that he often looked scared and not sure where to go on defense. Joeseph is reliable defensively while snuggy could be costly. I honestly thought dvorsky looked better than snuggy. At least less of a defensive liability.

Andy Mcdonald was an awesome one too.
Yes, but pre-dates Armstrong and while he was a good player acquired for someone over the hill, I don’t view him as a reason why the Blues rebuild/core development/cup win happened. He did help transition to being a contender, but he was out of his prime then.

You're not wrong.
But it took Petro and Bouwmeester a good long minute to figure out how to work with each other(debatable if they ever really did mesh); and the impact really came when Bouw was matched with Parayko.

Thomas and Fowler get out on a 2 on 1, after a steal!!!! Thomas passes to the streaking Fowler, who makes no mistake, and flips the puck above and to Talbots right!!!! :vhappy: :vhappy: :vhappy: :vhappy: :vhappy:

Blues 10th consecutive win!!!!
Bolduc with a great hit to free the puck and then Thomas & Fowler took off. Really impressed with the complete game Bolduc is playing.

I thought dvorsky looked better. Snuggy might have shown some more flashes on offense, but he also looked a lot more confused and unsure where to go on defense while dvorsky seemed less of a liability.

Forgot that was pre-armstrong. I miss little Andy, was a bright spot for a long time.

Yeah if we’re talking immediate impact Fowler is probably the answer for best in-season trade by Armstrong.

For most impactful over a long period of time, it’s Bouwmeester or Shattenkirk.

I say this after openly pining to acquire Fowler on this forum a year before he was acquired and have texts on my phone dating back to 2021 proposing the idea of trading Tarasenko for him. So needless to say I am happy.
