Its looking like the wildcard race in the East is going to be exciting

If Det and MTL keep winning at a similar rate, we could see them bump FLA and TB out of A2 and A3. That would kinda kill the wild card drama because it would put FLA and TB in WC1 and WC2 then a big gap.
That would be the most Leafish outcome, finally win the division and get the Panthers 1st round.

Edit: maybe they won't catch the Panthers, for some reason I thought they were sitting at 52 points
In terms of point%, there's a bigger gap between Tampa and the wild card than there is between Tampa and Toronto

It's playoff-style games down to game 82 it seems. There were so many great games yesterday and the standings keep getting tighter. A bad week can take you out of the race pretty quickly.

Another storyline is the Canadian teams. Ottawa and Montreal could realistically end up 7th and 8th in the east while Calgary and Vancouver end up 7th and 8th in the west.

Toronto, Winnipeg and Edmonton are virtual locks for the playoffs.

We could have all 7 Canadian teams in the playoffs this year. Or just 3. But all 7 are at least competing.
Habs won't make play offs. Recent hot streak has been good. (won 7 of last 13)
Log jam is more a result of so many 3 point games. How much of a gap do we really expect after 45 games?
Habs and wings stunk till about a month ago and are still in it.
I think the Sens will make it this year.

2-1-0 point system instead of 3-2-1-0 is a joke; it has always been, but nights like this make it more apparent. Yeah, if PHI don't make it PO this year - whatever - but how can we be worse off than 24hrs ago w regulation win while OTT-BOS and NYR-CBJ go to OT?

I agree with you but it's been like this forever lol. Not saying that's a reason we shouldn't change it, but we should be used to it by now.

Should be 3 for regulation win and 0 for regulation loss.

2 for overtime or shootout win, and 1 for overtime or shootout loss.

Every game is 3 points.

I am somewhat used to it; just every now and then it grinds my gears; especially because perfect solution is RIGHT THERE

Right now there's 12 points separating the 12 teams in the middle. Every game matters, it's really exciting. Games are already being played like they're playoff games
