It's December 1st and Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl both have 50 points

McDAVID, DRAISAITL REACH 50-POINT MARK

Oilers teammates Connor McDavid (19-32—51 in 29 GP) and Leon Draisaitl (18-32—50 in 29 GP) each found the score sheet twice to become the first players to reach the 50-point mark this season. They became the sixth and seventh different players in the last 25 years to reach the 50-point mark in 29 games or less.

* McDavid and Draisaitl became the third and fourth different players in the last 30 years with 50 or more points in a season through games played Dec. 1.

* Aside from McDavid and Draisaitl, only two other players in franchise history were at least halfway to 100 points in a season through the first day of December: Wayne Gretzky (7x) and Jari Kurri (1x).

* The pair became the fourth set of teammates in NHL history with 50 or more through games played Dec. 1, joining Gretzky and Kurri in 1983-84 (w/ EDM), Mario Lemieux and Rob Brown in 1988-89 (w/ PIT) as well as Bernie Nicholls and Gretzky in 1988-89 (w/ LAK).

Answer me this though- is Mcdavid the main duo member or just the sidekick duo ride along Annie?

Gonna go ahead and make the bold claim that the most dynamic player in the game would be able to produce offense without Drai.

When 87 and 71 would play together, Sid would defer to Geno. And in those early years before the depth was built up, Geno was the more dominant player quite often. Doesn't change the fact you have two awesome players and there's no need to be team McDavid or team Drai.

Build the team correctly and you'll get to watch them dominate separately when the games matter.

Are all the other members in the Toronto and Eastern Canadian bubble?

How does he go 21st after a 50 + 50 season? Lol if the Leafs so called “Big 3” all went ahead of him.

Matthews was the only one to go before, the draft started very G and D heavy. Still a nice snag that early in the 3rd around.

Can you answer me why any Canuck fan would hate the Oilers right now?

Can't speak for anyone but myself, but I have been naturally wired to hate the Oilers most of my life for no particular reason. Probably the same for most Oiler's fan and the Canucks.

This duo is the best I have ever seen (was a little too young to appreciate Mario and Jagr). They will have to deliver in the playoffs to be considered in that echelon for me.

I'd say chances are good when the last time the Oilers made it to the playoffs, Draisaitl was amazing and McDavid, though didn't look as good, still managed to put up 9 pts in 13 Playoff Games. I'd say, if they make it, they will be tough to play.

For me as an oiler fan, the rivalry was never really there. We’ve just never really been good at the same time in my lifetime, we haven’t even really been bad at the same time like us and Calgary.

I hate them in the same way like I hate Chicago for winning, the nucks were really really good for a few years. The rivalries gonna heat up a lot over the next few years, we should both finally be great teams relatively soon.

shows how ****ty the league's defense has gotten...

You mean a bunch of slow footed stiffs trying to "defend" far more skilled players than them by water skiing off their jersey?

There's still a ton of crap refs don't call.

29 games.....but playing minutes like a 1st pairing D-man.

So kinda like playing 35.5 games if they played like the average forward in the league.

Still.....they look good.

I mean, don't they play a part of almost every single Oiler goal?

God help that team if either of them go down with an injury......

When you're good enough to get leaned on that heavily it comes with the territory though. No one else in the league would do as good or better in their situation.

Now this is some mental gymnastics.
