It's about time for a Kreider thread

I think Florida was more concerned about tying the game on their gift-wrapped powerplay than getting after Kreider -- but hey, thats just me

True enough, but you certainly have a reason to ask.

First of all, he didnt just glide into Upshall, he pushed him hard into the boards. And Upshall didnt even see it coming, Kreider was close to a suspension there.

Then Kreider went hiding behind the bench, until he was escorted to the penalty box, less than 2 mins remaining of the game. He knew they couldnt retaliate, to me he looks more like a coward.

Point is, if he continues with these kinds of hits he will have to answer for it one day. Then he better be ready, as a non-fighter I believe he isn't.

Long time lurker and lifelong Ranger fan here, finally signed up! Kreider is really coming along nicely. They say big power forwards take a while to put it all together? Well this guy , after some growing pains, is looking to be an absolute beast. I don't know that there is another player currently in the league that compares in the package of size,strength,speed and shot! The four S'es haha
I'm excited to see how this year plays out for him and he is certainly an important piece of this team for years to come. Alain Vigneault seems to be just what he needed in his development and he clearly is rewarding the confidence shown in him with some focused play and is in beast mode nightly.
This guy is special and we are blessed to have him on NYR!

Bad time to take a penalty but this team has to develop a toughness where they have each others backs even if it means a bad penalty with the right intentions. His teammates stepped up to kill the penalty and it wasn't all bad since it allowed us to ice the puck without fear. I wish he did not apologize. I think its important for the guys to stand up for each other more.

Count me as someone who did not have a problem with what Kreider did. And given how Henke, Zucc and McD appeared to have responded to Kreider when the game was over, my interpretation is that his teammates understood why he did what he did, and that they had a lot less problem with it than many of the people posting in this thread.

The poster you are quoting is the same individual that posted YouTube videos of Kreider getting blindsided by Douglas Murray and Brooks Orpik, and then questioned that if Kreider was so big and strong, why couldn't withstand such hits. This poster's particular agenda has been fairly obvious.

I agree about standing up for each other. Stepan has been run a few times , this season I can remember at least two headshots, and I'm sure he appreciated Kreider laying down the law! We all can recognize the need for toughness to deter shenanigans and liberties being taken with our stars, and I feel a message is sent clearer from a hit like that than from a staged fight . Now , when it comes to Kreider fighting? Not something we want to really see often, but I'm sure he can learn to handle himself if he can't already. I mean Dubi fought pretty often, and after getting handled pretty much routinely in the beginning of his career , he developed some skill with the fisticuffs. Kreider is bigger, stronger and seems to have some nastiness ready to boil over, so I don't think it will be an issue.
This team is starting to grow together and i think having guys that will retaliate for nonsense on the ice makes for a swagger we've been missing. I think sometimes it takes a catalyst in those situations to charge the team up. We have fighters that can hadle the nasty stuff when need be, we just have to develop the snarling, "don't mess with my teammate" attitude. Wow, think about when McNasty Wrath comes up! Yeah, he's got third pair written all over him but that's what we need . A monster that hits and can throw mitts like a champ , and will keep the game honest, as he should be able to play regular shifts.

I beg to differ, as 5-on-3's, double minors and 5 minute majors are much more difficult to kill off than normal minor penalties.

i just find it odd that no one went after Stuart when the game was our of hand except Boyle and it is not like he did anything that noticable.. Dorsett or the gritty players on this team should have taken it into their own hands

It appears Chris Kreider will avoid any supplementary discipline for his hit Sunday night on Scottie Upshall late in the third period of the New York Rangers' 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers.

Multiple sources indicated to ESPNNewYork.com that Kreider will not face a hearing for the hit, which earned him a cross-checking penalty with 1:15 left in regulation.

“He’s a big, strong young man who plays a physical-type game. I don’t think he was trying to hurt anybody in that situation. [He was] probably just trying to get to the bench, really, and somebody was in his way,†coach Alain Vigneault said.

“Obviously, he’s playing real well on both ends of the rink and hopefully he’ll keep doing that for us.â€
