It Is What It Is: Kirk Luedeke Breaks Down B's D

Getting back to the D - and I liked Kirk's rundown - here's a question:

Colin Miller's 1st NHL season vs Douglas Hamilton Esq.'s first NHL season - who played better defensively?

I think Douglas probably has better offensive upside - an overall better attacker, perhaps - but Miller has the tools - great skater and laser of a shot.

Douglas had his boneheaded defensive moments up until he was traded. Not sure if he'll end up being better in his own end than Miller will be.

Discuss.

I really like Colin but I think this is really unfair. Dougie is in a different world as far as expectations go and very well could end up as one of the top defenseman is the league. If you must compare -Colin has no hope at all in being dougies offensive world. It wont even be comparable ever in that area , as far as defense goes I guess there is hope they could be in the same league.

09-10 Bruins where probably worse than this years team and they where a krejci injury away from being in the eastern conference finals

Beside for Washington the east is WIDE OPEN

Washington being the bigger chokers in NHL history and ZERO Eastern conference appearances with ovechkin I don't see why they can't choke again they lose the Bruins are as likely as anyone to make it out of the east

If they Bruins remain in the Atlantic for the playoffs I see no reason why we can't be in the final 4

The Bruins can go toe to toe with Florida, Detriot, Tampa, Montreal when healthy 100%

We have the best 1,2,3 centers of any of those teams and one of the best goalies in the world in Tuukka who showed when hot what he can do in the playoffs in 12-13

If the season ended today we played

Round 1 vs Florida
Round 2 vs Detriot/Tampa (Detriot a team we have dominated since they came east, and Tampa is a team the Bruins have owned)

It's all about matchup and if that is our road to the final 4 there is no reason to trade loui in fact I would add pieces I'd love are chances to be in the final 4 if that's our path....than anything can happen

I am kind of in this way of thinking. I think we can beat or lose to most teams . I wouldn't sit here and say we would beat tbay, florida Detroit but I also wouldn't say we would lose to them . The last team Id want see is Washington, followed by montreal than probably the new York teams . It is a bit hard for me to see too big of a run unless we do add a piece on defense though. Who really knows though I have seen teams lose like three four d-man in the playoffs and keep trucking. Was it our cup year we had to use hnidy a game . He was just about useless at that stage , trust me tommy cross would be a 10x better add on.

When you look at the list of those salaries what value we are getting from Loui , and people call him overpaid lol. Loui and backes look like pure gold on that list.
