Is this what you're referring too?

So he wasn't saying he doesn't value hitting. He said he doesn't value hit, giveaway and takeaway stats. Which is 100% fair valid. Real-time stats are notoriously unreliable and are often counted differently building to building.

Okay... so he doesn't want d-men to get out of position to try and throw a big hit. Who wants that?

Ahhhh so he does think physicality is important. He just wants players to make sure that they're playing good defense first.

So he provided a nuanced response that doesn't discount the importance of physicality, but doesn't want d-men getting out of position to throw hits. And you've now taken that out of context like I thought.
I see your quite the Knob polisher.

Fact is this team doesn’t hit and is butter soft. You can call it all the bullshit nuanced response you want. There’s no punishing forecheck, at all, no intimidation at all. He doesn’t value hitting and it shows every single game.

If this is a response to 'who', it was regarding Kieth's question (Schwartz).

But I doubt the McDavid and crew could play some of those coaches, I'd like to see Bruce Boudreau. But these spoiled players couldn't handle him.

Eakins shouldn't be allowed into an NHL building other than the Saddledome the other Rogers
It’s in response to the thread in general
We change coaches a little too often it seems. I’m beginning to think it doesn’t matter who we hire, we will have to fire them in 12-18 months anyway

In unrelated news, you gotta love it when people try to be edgy and confrontational on a mess….age board, acting like they rule but end up coming across like an inexperienced 11 year old

Dumbest thread ever. The Team is actually playing well, the system is working, we are suppressing shots and generating shots. We aren't even CLOSE to panic mode, going by how the team is PLAYING. I have no doubt the results will follow. I like what I'm seeing out there these last 2 weeks, despite the losses.

The shot metrics show a much rosier picture, forwards are frustrated, team defense is a mess and our goalie lets in stinkers, systems that the league has figured out never change.

Put away the shot counter and watch the game.

You start selling core players before you fire another coach.

If the leadership group on this team needs a new coach every year to get their heads straight, then just trade McDrai now and get it over with.
I’d trade Nuge first, that would shake the hell of the core group, and his $5M salary is not too difficult to find a trade partner. The stickler is the NMC, but players get traded with those every year. Bowman has no attachment to the player group, I’d ask Nurse and RNH to waive, even if they say no, message would be fully received, and would start them thinking if things would be rosier in other NHL cities.

The locker room needs a shake up. Even if they come back and fire on all cylinders and finish strong, It’s been stagnant at the top for a while.

It isn't disinterest, it's being uptight (again it's really caring too much rather than the opposite) and then getting into a cycle of "not this shit again" when you're down like 0-3 in the Jets game even though you were out chancing them to start the game.

Uptightness + then frustration and then it snowballs.

I doubt there's many people in the sport that take their game prep more seriously than Connor McDavid. This is a guy who would refuse to eat birthday cake at birthday parties as a child because he had a game the following day and it would violate the pre-game diet. Imagine an 8 year old refusing to eat cake at a birthday party, lol.

A legit good goalie would be able to break this negative spin cycle, but alas our management is too incompetent to ever find one of those guys. Getting a huge save or winning a game (or two!) you didn't deserve to have would just let this group f***ing exhale and go "ok, lets get it going now".
That is a big issue, and it hasn’t reared its head in pressers yet thus year but it did before Woodcroft got fired, they got caught up with the shot count and assuming because they out chanced the opponent they should win. But nothing about playing the same predictable overpassing, shoot from the point offense, a PP where everyone and their mother knows you’re going to Drai on the off circle and horrible miscues and giving up on plays at the back.

30% of pollsters want the coach fired "now" or "soon." Yikes.

Considering the guy drug us from the depths of despair to the Stanley Cup Final with mediocre goaltending--then it seems to be unfair ---imho.

Perhaps, instead of going thru coaches like cheap Trojan boxes, the team could address the issue of "established culture" because that's the real problem.

In clarity 2/3 of those voting yes aren't even Oilers fans. Devil in the details. Can click to see who voted for what. I like those polls.

Knoblauch doesn't sign the players. Who exactly on this forward core would be a punishing forechecker somewhere else? As for intimidation. The Oilers have the 2nd most fights in the league so far this season.

And just to be clear. This has nothing to do with defending Knoblauch. I just don't believe in making up bullshit like you've been doing all season.
