Long shot that a GM comes in and immediately trades away a #1 overall, but just wondering if SJ/CHI/Utah would be interested in moving up, and if so what offers would look like.

Again, huge long shot here (and not sure if I agree) but if they think they can get hometown boy Hagens at 3 or 4 + a moderate haul I could see them considering it.

As a Utah fan, I'll tell you this much: if we do trade the 4th overall pick, which is an idea I'm open to in itself, it won't be to move up to 1st. The only way I remotely see it happening is if there's somehow a big trade involving a lot of moving pieces where we also swap places, which is very unlikely in the first place.

Unless you'd take 4th plus someone like Lawson Crouse for 1st, which is something I don't fathom Bill Armstrong even offering, and if he were to for some odd reason, your new GM (whose name I don't even remember off the top of my head) doesn't respond by hanging up the phone and laughing. So, I highly doubt there will be a trade involving us trading first round picks with each other.

On the other hand, I could see Utah and the Islanders being possibly being trading partners for something else, but that's not the topic of this thread.

Yeah, Crouse isn't going to move the needle. No GM yet btw

Already agreed upon in another thread late second from Chicago ;)

I think I'd be okay with giving up 2nd OA, DAL 1st or EDM 1st 2026, and Ottawa's second. Maybe I'd do 2nd+DAL 1st+33rd overall, as I quite like Schaefer, but Misa was my clear #2. Would also take Duclair back on waivers to sweeten the pot.
This is interesting. I think the Isles make this kind of trade for sure.

For Barzal? A bigger trade?
It is the Mammoth's biggest trade asset at the moment. Misa sure is tempting, but being a playoff contender next season may be the priority.

No!!!!!! We get Schaefer or Misa. Let’s not get silly.

Am I crazy to think they should trade the 4th pick? They could get a really good player right now and it’s not like they’re lacking prospects coming in soon.

San Jose isn't at the point in their rebuild to be spending assets to move up one spot.

I would trade it for a 2025 and 2026 2nd, it looks like San Jose has a decent amount of picks to cover it. Depends how much you want Schaeffer or not

Oh but trading down so you can select Hagens is galaxy brianing it imo. Just take Shaefar
Trading down to select Hagens at 3 or 4 and accumulating additional draft capital isn’t a bad idea essentially. Especially if that additional draft capital is a later 1st in this years draft. Ideally the Isles need to stock the prospect pool with talent after Lou left the franchise with next to nothing.

I don't know enough about this year's draft to have an informed opinion on whether I feel that we should trade the pick or not, honestly. It seems like a good idea based on the current direction of our franchise. I'm sure Bill Armstrong will listen to offers involving the pick instead of just saying it's not available. It just depends on what the other 31 teams can offer for it at that point.

On paper it sounds like a good idea but it’s got blow up in your face potential

Am i the only one that thinks Schaefer is a franchise defenseman and the forwards are all a clear tier below? Id trade 2 late 1sts to move up a couple spots to grab him. I wonder if Utah would trade a bunch of picks to get him
