Rumor: Isles going after Petterson; Dobson possibly involved

I think it’s more a rumour from the west coast, apparently Vancouver might be on his No trade list. But he also has like a 22 team no trade list.

Pettersson is still rather meh, but mainly Boeser is ufa and isn't under team control.

Can't imagine Vancouver makes a deal for two injured players while they're in the chase, especially when Barzal might be out for a while.

Agreed. Allvin would use the acquired players as assets to get what he actually wants. Otherwise there is no reason for the Canucks to trade Pettersson for Dobson. Nelson is a really good player.

I'm still interest in Dobson, but I'd have to imagine the Canucks, and Rutherford and Allvin, aren't as into Dobson as I'd be.

Our LD is set of course, but Dobson would be fighting Hronek for top spot as an RHD, and Myers isn't bad. To upgrade from Hronek/Myers to Dobson isn't a need at the moment.

Barzal, Nelson...Horvat...even Lee or Palmieri would be more needed targets if Pettersson is moved.

I would have to think there would be a 3rd team involved to have a landing spot for Dobson, because moving off Boeser/Petterson would strip Vancouver of all their high end forwards. So Dobson, I would assume would go to a 3rd party to get another forward.

And at some point are Rutherford/Allvin going to incur the anger of Quinn Hughes, who doesn't want to be a part of a rebuild.

No - this is the whole point. We know what Rutherford said. But it’s so much thinner than the heat around the Canucks that’s existed the last couple months. A bunch of folks who’ve never broken anything about the Canucks have been hyping every key Canuck as being discontented and wanting out. EP, Boeser, Demko, etc. Folks have really not taken the time to unpack what’s actually been said. It’s clear enough now Miller had issues (the extent to which personal matters were part of this is hazy though).

At what point will people start actually looking stuff up and not just absorbing click farmers and fan fantasy?

I’ll be the first to admit I’m wrong if more and more people from this core leave. But if this Isles trade doesn’t happen, will folks let it go and maybe get the memo that media really doesn’t have the inside track with this management group? Dare to dream.

Were they really. It seems impossible for any hockey fan to say that Miller rumors were just clickbait. Miller had made # 1 on a list of top 50 trade prospects, had frequently going back to early in the season looked and sounded completely checked out and Canucks' management had before trading him admitted they didn't see a way forward for the team with both him and Pettersson.

Suggesting that a deal is clickbait when it has a team creating a gaping hole at an important position to acquire something that since the acquisition of M Pettersson doesn't appear to need fixing isn't unreasonable, though such a deal could work as part of a larger blockbuster or if the Canucks have another deal in the pipeline to trade a defenceman for a center.

That would be one hell of a Blueline but we know Soucy is likely traded.

How do the minutes get allocated here? What about salary? Dobson would be great, but there just isn't the same need for him that we had with Hronek and Hughes injured, and Myers and Soucy leading Branstrom, Juulsen, Friedman and player 6 into a game.
