Chris , Corey , Scott and Max latest podcast on the Athletic state The Blackhawks pick will be either Frondell or Desnoyers . They aren't giving up additional draft picks when the top 6 forwards are all very similarly looked at talent wise.Chicago does this. If they like Misa, two seconds is a nothing burger.
They should look at trading down if they know a team or two won’t go after either at 3. Atleast make someone pay to move up who’s targeting Hagens or Misa at 3.Chris , Corey , Scott and Max latest podcast on the Athletic state The Blackhawks pick will be either Frondell or Desnoyers . Pick Schaefer at 1 then let Hagens come to the Isles as a UFA when he has the choice to do so. Sign his brother as a UFA post draft since he’ll be available. This idea Isles can get both is stupid....We are not getting both, isles fans have to come to grips with that.
As an isles fan, I may be in the minority- IMO
I'm not trading
Dobson
1st rounder
and Danny Nelson
for
Hagens
Sorry this is too much. Let's just be happy picking whoever at #1 and call it a day.
I just look at San Jose's roster and it looks like they need a defenseman more than another forward. Even if you believe SJ has a good pipeline of defenseman prospects those guys are probably a good 3-5 years away from being useful guys you can rely on(it usually takes like 2-3 pro seasons to get the warts out of a young defenseman's game)
Maybe they don't trade for Dobson but if they want to maximize the potential of the forwards they will need to find ways to get experienced defensemen on their roster in the next year or 2 whether it's through trade or signing a UFA

A need for a defenseman doesn't then mean they will pay any price to get one. There's no way Dobson pulls any top ten pick in this draft, imo. Probably not top 15 either. The rest of what would be going San Jose's way doesn't make up for that.I just look at San Jose's roster and it looks like they need a defenseman more than another forward. Where exactly are these rumors? Haven’t heard a single thing about them. Not to mention his fiance is from the north east. Sounds like a bullshit rumor.I am gong on the idea that their is truth to the rumors Dobson wants to go out West
lol ok this is a joke. I get it you don’t want Dobson, but to say he wouldn’t get a 10th overall pick is insane. You hope to draft a decent player with that pick, but you’d be over the moon to draft a guy that was top 10 in Norris voting just a year ago that is still only 25.A need for a defenseman doesn't then mean they will pay any price to get one. I don't think it is because of the contract differences between Dobson as a pending RFA and Schneider as a goalie with two years left. Where is the leverage for the Islanders to get that sort of ask because you still have to demonstrate that anyone will look at Dobson in the top half of this draft and feel like they would move that pick for him. Any of them knowing that Dobson would sign with them would likely leverage that position to give up less, not more. Any of them knowing that Dobson wouldn't sign with them would not come close to paying that price for a rough contract negotiation.Corey Schneider got the 9th pick in 2013, I have to think with the lack of elite potential in the top 10 this year, Dobson's value is at least that
I have no reason to believe that Anaheim as the team with the 10th overall pick would move that for Dobson given his contract situation. I also have no reason to believe anyone with a better pick would make it available for Dobson when he has a de facto NTC. So what exactly would push the Sharks to fork over the 2nd overall pick in this situation even if we get past the likelihood that Dobson would leverage his way elsewhere to play for the next eight years?lol ok this is a joke. 1. Yeah but he practically gets to choose where he goes and he has no reason to choose the Sharks over literally anywhere else.1. He’s an RFA and will likely be signed long term.
2. He’s finished top 10 in Norris voting a year ago.
3. Even if it wasn’t a top 10 pick this year his value is far more than a 10th overall pick. A team like Buffalo would be foolish not to consider Dobson for the 9th pick +. The isles likely wouldn’t consider it though.
1. Yeah but he practically gets to choose where he goes and he has no reason to choose the Sharks over literally anywhere else.
2. We all know what he did two seasons ago. Just because he's not going to pull a top ten or maybe even top 20 pick doesn't mean he has no value either. You're just not likely to get a top quality asset in return.
3. There's no chance Buffalo makes that pick available when they are already paying Dahlin and Power a lot of money to do most of what Dobson does.
That all depends on how you define premium assets. Buffalo may not have anyone on the right side but that doesn't mean it would be smart for them to pay Dobson and it would be pretty silly of Dobson to pick Buffalo too. If Dobson is going to get a 9-10 mil long term contract, he's going to want to go to a place that is going to give him the offensive opportunities that are typically afforded to 1D's. That simply isn't going to happen in Buffalo since they have Dahlin and he's better. The point of referencing Power is to show the money already being invested into the blue line and you're thinking that they'll invest another 9-10 mil in Dobson and pay the 9th overall pick for him to be a #2? There's not a chance in that happening. And lots of teams at around that pick level have a similar line of reasoning as to why they won't make that pick available for Dobson in his current situation and I think some people need to come to grips with that. Dobson isn't getting a top ten pick back.I never said anything about SJ. He would absolutely get premium assets back. Buffalo has no one on the right side. Dahlin (LD) Power (LD). And Power kind of sucks.
so to get the best Forward in draft you wouldnt trade 2 2nd rd picks???? The drop off from Misa to Hagens,Frondell, Desnoyers, Martone is massiveWhy would the Blackhawks do this ???? Beyond dumb
I not sure Dobson is the kind of defender Buffalo needs. Seems a defensive defenseman is what their fans seekI never said anything about SJ. He would absolutely get premium assets back. Buffalo has no one on the right side. Dahlin (LD) Power (LD). And Power kind of sucks.
Desnoyers, is the better player longterm imoso to get the best Forward in draft you wouldnt trade 2 2nd rd picks???? The drop off from Misa to Hagens,Frondell, Desnoyers, Martone is massive
Not over Misa..but I wouldn't rule him completely out but also problem is he is like 2-3 yrs away from NHL and Blackhawks need to start speeding up the rebuild or Bedard is going to take the 1st exitDesnoyers, is the better player longterm imo
Call it a hunch , Misa is probably the more talented now , but in the future, I see great things for this kid, . He Seems to be the ultimate team leader all around player .Just my opnion , I could be wrong .Not over Misa..but I wouldn't rule him completely out but also problem is he is like 2-3 yrs away from NHL and Blackhawks need to start speeding up the rebuild or Bedard is going to take the 1st exit
