- R.Pulock

To:

- J.Eberle
- D.Simpson

Isles get Eberle, who I think would mesh very well with JT and Simpson who is a near NHL ready LHD, which is lacking in the system.

The Oilers get a heart and soul winger entering UFA and the all illusive RHD with a shot from the point.

Flame Away...

Oilers wings look the worst they have in years. Oilers D looks the best it has in years. RW is a huge depth issue on Edmonton right now, so you're saying we give up our only decent RW and run 0 top 6 RW just to boost D? I don't see it helping at all.

Draisaitl slides to right wing?

Plus, I think Clutterbuck would be a great add for Edmonton. They have enough talent up front, he'd bring a good physical presence.

I think you're a bit ignorant to the Oilers roster then. They don't have good wingers, especially RW. Eberle is all they have, Puljujarvi hasn't looked like a major offensive threat. So they break up their C core to have Draisaitl on the RW doesn't make sense. Oilers have plenty of bottom 6 talent that is physical, that's not an organizational need. Trading 3 top 6 wingers in a few months and only acquiring 1 back would leave EDM blank on the wings. Value may be close, but Edmonton would be silly to agree (especially before the expansion draft).

Not really, watch them regularly.

Eberle drops salary for improvements, and in the deal Edmonton gets something they need. Young RHD.

Gross. A fourth liner and what looks to be another bust D prospect in Pulock why would we do them another favor after the Reinhart debacle?

you have pulock labeled as a "bust" after a whopping 16 games in the NHL?
2 goals and 2 assists in 16 games for a 21 year old kid aint exactly what i would call a "bust". he also had 4 points in 6 playoff games.

Reinhart played a whopping 8 games before he was traded to the Oilers and was immediately labeled a bust by Islander fans. Pulock isn't even a year younger.

reinhardt was tagged as a bust by people who watched him in bridgeport.
he had one point in eight games, pulock has 4 times that in only twice the games played. if one of them is a bust, it sure as hell aint the kid thats out with a broken foot right now.

Neutral fan.

I think this is actually a thoughtful deal. If I was the Isles I would probably not send Clutterbuck (pretty useful player) and have the Oilers find some other way to take value and salary back. Pulock + Bailey + 2nd? Or Pulock + 2nd and have the Oilers retain a bit on Eberle?

22 pts in 58 games for Reinhart in Bridgeport. Pulock 25 pts in 53 games with Bridgeport. HUGEEEEEEEE difference right there in production alone, right? 22 years old and hasn't found a regular spot in the NHL the same way Reinhart wasn't and still isn't able to do.

Counter:

Boychuk + something for Eberle

No thanks on that. I don't think Boychuks contract makes sense for the Oilers. Too long, too big of an aav and too old of a player.

I suppose the two fan bases could dust off the old Eberle for Hamonic conversation.

I like Hamonic and he has a very nice contract but with Larsson on the team he may not be the best fit.

I don't think there's a fit between the two teams unless the Islanders feel they can't protect Pulock and need to move him.

he had a roster spot before he broke his foot. Everything you're saying in this thread says you have no idea about what players are involved.

I would need to see more NHL games (half way mark of this season) from Pulock before making a final decision on the OP, but it looks well though out. If Pulock looks like an NHLer...

The Oilers can play Draisaitl as 1RW, Pitlick as 2RW, Clutterbuck as 3RW and Puljujarvi as 4RW.

I'm not sure Eberle would be of interest to NYI because of his obvious flaws but he should give Tavares as legit RW to play with. I am not sure if NYI team defense is strong enough to cover for Eberle's defensive laziness and lack of physical play, the Oiler's surely is not. Dillon Simpson is not a great add, as I highly doubt he ever becomes a regular in the NHL... a draft pick would probably be of more value IMO.

No interest in Boychuk, only because of his contract.

Pulock can actually move...and shoot...and was on his way to solidifying his spot, but then he broke his foot. He's leaps and bounds better than Reinhart.

Calling Pulock a bust, that is ridiculous. Kid looks really good to my eye. One of the hardest slappers I've ever seen.

I do think you're underrating Simpson, but the main reason he is included is to even out contracts.
