Isles will retool. Won't be going through a 30 year rebuild of top 5 picks. Would not doubt they are competing for top 5 in the east next year with a hungry semi young fast team lead by Roy.

There's so many teams rebuilding right now anyway, the race to the bottom is more fierce than the playoffs lol.

The 2026 draft is supposedly a lot better than 2025. It’s going to be hard for the Islanders to tank though. They’ve got too many good players on longer term contracts to move out to make that happen. Imo they will be stuck in that area drafting 8-15. Great players do come from these spots (and later too) but the odds aren’t as good as drafting top 3.
