As a somewhat neutral fan, I’m really impressed by the evolution of Matthews game. I recognize he’s not scoring as much as we’re used to, but from my perspective he’s evolved into a much more complete player.

I think the goals will come, but I’m happy to see his growth. I think it bodes well for your Leafs come Playoff time.

They can’t trade any of the top 3 because that’s their entire offense.
And they finish too high to get good draft picks.
So all they can do is wait for Tavares’ contract to expire and go from there.

This team is still setup great long term regardless. Lots of cap space the next few years not to mention

- Sandin, Liljegren, Timmins all young and look like top 4 dmen.
- Matthews and Marner franchise center and winger will be kept
- Woll 11-0 .925 sv% in the AHL right now and Samsonov only 25 and a good goalie

We have good pieces in place that are still young. With good management this will be a team who will be competitive for many many more years.

I think that goal was more on Samsonov, he should have done a better job there. The larger issue is that it's way too easy for this team to disappear offensively, they've done pretty much nothing
