To Ducks------Pulock

To Islanders---Zegras

When everyone is healthy the Isles will have too many defenseman and Zegras has had down years the past 2 seasons and can use a change of scenery.

Pulock has a full NTC, the one most likely to go is Dobson.

I think it depends. Dobson goes if we get a 1st line forward back, Pulock goes if we get a 2nd liner.

Only way I can see us trading Dobson without getting a top line forward back is if we make a huge UFA signing and need the cap space, but even then we have Nelson and Palmieri coming off the books

Pulock doesn’t go. Isles fans have been trying to wish this into existence since before that extension even went into effect and here we are three years later.

A 30 year old D man to a team starved for offense for a 23 year old who sets up plays most of the time he's on the ice? The stats may not be there, but there's a reason the Ducks look more dangerous when he's on the ice. This only looks at what one team needs and can afford to get rid of. Ducks need to add a goal scorer to Zegras, even early in the season the chances were there, his linemates just couldn't convert. Now he's starting to put up points since he came back from injury, and that's playing out of position. He should be a center and looks much better there, but Cronin refuses to do anything that works. And that's not even bringing up the fact that the Ducks are rotating young D already because there aren't enough spots.

Zegras, 1st for TK. Ducks for sure need 1st line veteran winger, who's one of the best PKer in the league. And Flyers get young center with potential (kinda questionable one but still) plus 1st is 1st.
Nothing against Konecny, but he doesn't fit into our compete window. Ducks aren't trading future core pieces like Z and a top 10 pick for win now additions.

Yes, a rebuilding team should trade their dynamic 23 year old who makes his linemates better. Makes a lot of sense.

This is a lot of rosy talk about a guy who is currently sitting on 30 points in 62 games over the last two seasons...

... Before somebody gets their jimmies rustled, this discussion is over the rumor posted in the OP. If you believe that to be true, then Zegras would return his current value, which is in the gutter. Which is kinda why Anaheim shouldn't trade him and hope he gets back to form.

So more clickbait nonsense?

Apparently the big algorithm in the sky decided that I love the Flyers & whenever I open a tab there's another story related to them (I think it came because I once clicked on a story to see just what the justification was for various fans giving Cutter death threats...). Anyway, a couple of days ago there was another "Here's why the Ducks need to trade Zegras to us" clickbait nonsense. Not one word on just why Anaheim would even consider it. Not one word on what Anaheim needs or would want in return (however it was strongly suggested that he could be had for future considerations & a bag of practice pucks...). Just nonsense designed to generate clicks from Flyers fans.

I get that the media has to do this much as a dog & fire hydrant have a similar relationship...but it does get old. Will PV take phone calls on him? Sure, that's his job. However the price to get him will probably be really painful for the other team, as it should be.

How many years the Ducks are in lose now mode for? It's time to get into win now mode for them
They have been doing it right. Suck for awhile, stockpile young talent and should be out of the rebuild next year with a decent coach. The wrong approach is trying to win too early and trading guys in your compete window for veterans that won’t help them when the window opens. The Ducks have so much young talent in the system. They’re going to be a force for a decade.

Not sure Zegras has the value amongst GMs that he may have to fans. If the Isles were interested perhaps as mentioned above - Dobson for Zegras in some deal.

The Ducks already have a forward depth problem, and a defensive logjam the coach is openly admitting is unhealthy for the young D. Even if you think the value on that is fair in a vacuum, there's no reason for them to trade from a position of weakness for a position of strength.

If the Ducks wanted to trade Zegras (and there remains zero indication that they are doing anything but answering the phone), the only trade that really makes sense would be packaging him for some form of Better Zegras.

I wondered how long after the click bait nonsense we'd have a thread. It makes zero sense to trade Zegras now, if at all. We need a top six scoring winger, when Zegras returns to normal we will need him. Think of a player on your team you don't want to get rid of, now ask yourself what it would take to pry him from your team, same situation here for the ducks.
