Started a new diet this week and was on my best behavior, so I rewarded myself with a nice burger and beer before the game.

Last night was the maddest I've been at a Devils game since Game 3 vs Florida 2012. I'm feeling better now. That whole thing was f***ed. But it's fine. I'm feeling better now (the bacon cheeseburger certainly helped) We're not even a month into the season, this will all be forgotten soon enough.
made me think of this so I had to post it.

You cant simultaneously say nobody has insight into what hes doing as both a positive for your side and a negative for others'. If nobody knows what he does or doesnt do, then both sides have an argument to be made

Im on the fence about this.. but we shouldnt pretend front offices in sports havent made much, much worse decisions before than keeping a skills coach around longer than they deserve

Maybe Rogalski gets canned or maybe he's here into the 2030's; I dont think either side of this debate should be too confident in their opinion on the matter

It is, however, a tough look when seeing the stats goaltenders have put up since his hiring; and thats probably not totally fair to Rogalski
the only people who have insight are those in the front office, who clearly have no issue with him. my point was i’ll trust them over people on a message board. i’m not thrilled with our goaltending over the last decade, but solving that will probably be a lot more different and impactful than replacing a goalie coach.
We don't know what he does or tells the goalies. Just like we don't know what any of the coaches are telling the players. We do know when it's time to fire these coaches though. And we're definitely at that point (probably 10 games overdue) with Rogalski.
we know way more about what coaches do (strategies, line combinations, scratches etc) than we do with goalie coaches. this guy in all likelihood is going over the last time the goalie faced the team, the last game the goalie played, etc. he’s not whispering jedi mind tricks into his ear.

Goalie coaches actually do advise their goalies on how to play or what they can do differently. There's a lot of evidence out there to confirm this.

I remember at least a couple of people said they weren't happy with Roland Melanson (the last goalie coach) because it had come out that he was telling our goalies to play further back in their crease than they had been.

So yeah, goalie coaches have a lot to do with how a goalie is playing and all these little or not so little nuances in their game.

I'm sure Benoit Allaire had a lot to do with Jonathan Quick completely changing his game and the way he played last year when he joined the Rangers.

What the hell is a tri-state challenge? Is the NHL just having companies sponsor random matchups of the season now?
