Pepperidge Farm remembers the last time Canucks writers made up rumors about Islanders players. That worked out real well then.

Mayfield for Pettersson. Chalk it up as done. It’ll be just like the Hall for Larsson deal, one for one.
Mayfield for Petey??? You islanders fans are so delusional. Canucks being crap doesnt make all of their players crap. Of that was the case then Canucks can get Zegras of Anaheim for Myers since Ducks are crap. Stupid HFboard logic

He's only played above 15 minutes one game and that was against Carolina and his ATOI this season is similar to the previous 2 seasons.

I'd assume the Canucks are looking at either Beauvillier, Dobson or Pulock but the Isles probably don't want to deal either Dobson or Pulock. So they're probably stuck with Mayfield
I would do Mayfield for Boeser. I dont think Boesers value is so low that people here think he is just a cap dump. He is still young, can bounce back easily and has scored 29 or 30 goals couple of times.

While Mayfield has an amazing contract this season he is a UFA this summer and I expect him to get a decent payday(probably somewhere else). If Mayfield had more term even at a higher capihit it might make sense for the Canucks to trade for him but at this point unless it's a trade and sign I can't see them being interested.

From and Islanders POV unless they are out of the playoffs I can't see them trading Mayfield unless they get an unbelievable offer. He gives us a solid 5 defensemen right now and is heavily used on our top PK.

Just curious if anybody has a link for the radio hit in the first post? OP seems to like to post random tweets which reference interviews that may or may not have happened.

I’m glad you actually took that one seriously considering the fact it was a joke. If you want to go there, this is probably the 5th thread that pushes your roster fillers to the Islanders in return for pieces you guys need. Lou isn’t trading you Dobson/Pulock/Mayfield for Pearson/Hoglander and mediocre prospects yet somehow it keeps getting brought up. When the Canucks “insiders” quit grasping for straws that aren’t even within reach then you’ll learn. Every single fantasy offer that people have made on here seems to think that the Islanders are moving a defenseman for an underperforming forward that doesn’t have any indication of getting back to form/fixing the Islanders need, just fills a roster spot with a mediocre forward. This isn’t the Mike Milbury managed Islanders anymore. This a team ran by a HOF GM and ownership that has the money to make things happen.

Why would the Isles even trade Pulock when they just signed him?
Yeah, I don't see a real reason unless they see a substantial upgrade at forward. They already have like 3M in space, not sure of injury situation, so maybe a bigger name player.

Doesn't seem like anything super obvious or natural between the two, maybe I'm wrong.

Seriously, someone please explain the interest in Myers from the Islanders? It's been going on for years.

We are most likely losing our 3rd pairing RD in Mayfield because he'll get 3.5-4.5 per on the market and we can't spend that on our 3rd pairing. That being said we're going to pick up Myers and his 6M cap hit for this and next season? Doesn't make any sense to pay a guy 6M when he's going to get 15-17 min toi a night.

Still he's been listed as a possible to the Isles for years now, from both the presses in NY and Van. Bizarre.

That’s really awful for the NYI. Mayfields value is far higher that Boeser. mayfield has great rental potential.

Boeser has never scored 30 goals. And hit 29 once. Back in 17-18. Stop making up fake stats.

What about Myers for Anthony Beauvillier?

Both have two years left on their deals. Vancouver gets cap relief on the AAV delta and the better player. NyI get a big RDH to replace mayfield when he leaves as a UFA.

Mayfield is more likely to be re-signed than traded for a guy like Myers.

Most of this is nonsense from a Canucks perspective.

The only Islanders that fit the under 26 profile the Canucks GM has gone on record in interviews that the Canucks would be interested in on the Islanders are Barzal, Dobson, Wahlstrom, Raty, Wilde, Beauvillier or Romanov.

If the Islander fantasists don't include any of those players in potential trades, then there will be no trades with the Canucks.

Again the Canucks GM says they are open to trades, as long as the players they are acquiring are UNDER 26 years old.

Depends if NYI can afford him. He’s due a big raise.
If they can get him for $3m AAV (in that range), he’s affordable. Anything close to $4+, it’ll be tough unless the cap gets the big bump this year.

It’s clear that Miller to the Isles was never discussed at the draft. Probably a smaller deal involving the NYI moving up a few spots in the draft to trade for Romanov.

He’ll get at least $4mm. If Chairot and Manson got over that.. so will he.

Can you afford Mayfield at 5 x $4.65mm?

Lou also signed Pelech and Pulock well under what they’d get on the open market. Actually, all of the top 4 are making well under market value. That might be a bit much for Mayfield. I’d realistically guess he gets between $3-$3.5 AAV for 5 years.

$4.65m is way too high for him as a player.

Does $4.75mm x 5 sound right for Chiarot? But that’s what he got.

Myers for Beauvillier doesn't help Vancouver, they're looking to add a RHD not trade one away.

If it was Beau + Isles D for Myers + Vancouver F it could work depending on the other two pieces

I think someones around Horvat or Miller is probably what NYI are looking into. I would assume they see Dobson, Romanov, Barzal as there core and that they need an upgrade in the top 6.

Just looking at salaries maybe the Canucks are looking at a JGP Myers swap. The salaries are similar with JGP having more term.

Some other ones that seem kind of interesting are
Garland for Beauvillier
Boeser for Beauvillier and a 2nd/3rd
Or maybe Horvat/Miller for Pulock, plus some swaping for picks, cap dumps or prospects
I don’t think Vancouver would move Horvat or Miller for that. They’d need more. And I doubt either are traded. More likely Garland, Myers or Boeser. Not sure the Isles have a D they’d trade that moves the dial for Van though.

I would trade literally anyone outside of Hughes or Pettersson to get Noah Dobson.
For god's sake, just give him to us.... do you people not want to see a Hughes - Dobson pairing?!
For the good of the league.

Vancouver doesn’t have a realistic forward of value to horse trade with. Unless they put Horvat on the table. I’ll assume EP and Miller aren’t available.
