Why would the Bruins do this?Matheson + Mailloux + 16 + 17 for Dobson
Romanov + 16 to Boston for 7
If Islanders are rebuilding, they can flip him with some retention for another 1st. That's 2x1st, 2nd, prospectYeah…we and everyone associated with the Isles would rather just pay Dobber the extra mill than pay Nurse 9.5.
Ottawa doesn't have a 26 1stGotta throw in 26 or 27 1st
They aren’t though, as much as I’d like them to be. Darche has been pretty clear on this.If Islanders are rebuilding, they can flip him with some retention for another 1st. That's 2x1st, 2nd, prospect
Utah will not trade for Dobson...Potential trading partners that jump out:
Utah - Has the ability to pay, wants to make a splash and has great trade assets (too great for Dobson?)
Carolina - Have the need and the ability to pay him; good, but not great trade assets
Vegas - If Pietrangelo LTIRetires; little to trade, but it’s Vegas
St. Louis - Faulk is getting older and nearing expiration; Armstrong’s always tinkering with his blueline
Why not just do a one for one: Bouchbomb for Dobson?Something around Oilers 1st+2nd+Nurse+Beau Akey for Dobson
Would prefer the Oilers have two pairings of Bouch and Dobson. Why not just do a one for one: Bouchbomb for Dobson?
I cant see it being Utah. I think Brady Martin is exactly what they want.
I think Chicago is NYI's best bet
Matheson + Mailloux + 7 + 17 for Dobson + RomanovMatheson + Mailloux + 16 + 17 for Dobson
Romanov + 16 to Boston for 7
That one makes sense too! This is where Dallas needs to put Robertson on the table
Harley- Heiskanen
Lindell- Dobson
Top4
You don’t pay 2 wingers superstar money, instead spread the wealth
No to both Habs players listed. Upgrade the prospect to start.Matheson + Mailloux + 16 + 17 for Dobson
Romanov + 16 to Boston for 7
Or they could just avoid the whole Nurse headache and likely get that same return anyway. 2 likely late 1sts isn’t some prize. I also don’t think Nurse would garner same return as Jones. If Islanders are rebuilding, they can flip him with some retention for another 1st. That's 2x1st, 2nd, prospect
Value aside, they aren’t going to move both Dobber and Romanov. They don’t want to move either, let alone both. I think they are quite comfortable paying Romanov, he’s a known quantity.Matheson + Mailloux + 7 + 17 for Dobson + Romanov
Seems like a very decent return to me for the Isles.
He would overtake him on pp1 as the qb but agree that Sanderson would be the no.1 in most situations still and while not a shutdown guy this past year has proven to be very effective defensively and a more possesion positive player despite not reaching the 70 points played at a .55ppg while posting a 52.80 corsi with a relative corsi of 4.40 indicating a really effective no.1 dman a Sanderson Dobson pair would among the leagues best duos and a good shot at being a top 5 pair as I think they have the skillsets to compliment one anotherNever heard anyone refer to him as a shutdown D-man, far from it in fact, that's the problem. And in Ottawa he would not be the #1 cause he would not supplant nor surpass Sanderson in any category
Except for the Nurse part and the fact Edmonton doesn’t have a first until 2027. First would either need to be 2025 or 2026. Nurse also has way too many years (with a NMC) left to even think the Isles would do that. Plus it would be O’Reilly instead of Akey anyways.Something around Oilers 1st+2nd+Nurse+Beau Akey for Dobson
We’re blaming Dobson for the PP? The PP was fine in 23-24. You can’t run players like Lee, Palmieri, Holmstrom and expect to have a decent PP.It’d be really rough to give up Dobber, but if he is really set on an 8 figure deal as Friedman is saying, that’s…a big risk, for the Isles especially.
He’s a great transition offensive D, who’s far from solid in his own zone, coming off a bad season, and has also shown he can’t QB a PP as effectively as you’d want a 1st pair Off-D. Lost that job and ice time to DeAngelo within games of him getting here. He’s also not ever going to play with a McDavid/Draisaitl here like Bouchard does to help production.
One of the tougher contracts the Isles have had to deal with in quite some time. Makes sense to at least see the market before biting this bullet.
No he certainly wouldn't based on the fact Sanderson finished second only to Makar in PP points this year, which I get not a lot of people realize. At very best he would play with Sanderson on PP#1, but he more likely would just supplant Chabby as the #2pp guyHe would overtake him on pp1 as the qb but agree that Sanderson would be the no.1 in most situations still and while not a shutdown guy this past year has proven to be very effective defensively and a more possesion positive player despite not reaching the 70 points played at a .55ppg while posting a 52.80 corsi with a relative corsi of 4.40 indicating a really effective no.1 dman a Sanderson Dobson pair would among the leagues best duos and a good shot at being a top 5 pair as I think they have the skillsets to compliment one another

Which team has a similar package to offer of an NHL ready forward prospect and halfway decent young defenseman? Not many teams would be willing to give up both in a deal.If he gets dealt, I imagine the return would be similar to Sergachev from last year.
Serg was traded for Geekie (recent 11th overall pick), Moser and a 2nd.
His advanced stats are not good on defense. Likely he settles for $9-10m but he's not worth that either imo even with the cap going up. That puts him as top 10 highest paid D today. Makar makes $9m now. Tough choice but if NYI don't want to resign him for that, why would any team give good assets to do so...
Analytically he was excellent last year defensivelyWasn't he a two-way force in junior? Did the defensive side of his game just not translate to the NHL?
