Proposal: Isaac Howard to Chicago

ya I am not trading Donato or Korchinski for Howard. Something around Wyatt Kaiser, Allen, EDM, and Toronto 1st I would consider.

Donato? Hes a UFA and if he wasnt yes we would trade Donato for Howard in an instant.
person I responded to was saying in contract ext. I would rather just keep him as a veteran player. 60 pt season and 30 goals we dont need to shed guys like that who actually try on any given nght

I don’t think Howard is enough to get Korchinski.
Howard was better than Ryan Leonard this season and was drafted in the same draft as Korchinski. Korchinski has fallen behind Howard.

Since rejoining the Hawks in March, Korchinski’s played 6 games is a -2 and has 1 goal while playing 18 minutes a night. Ethan Del Mastro has passed him on the depth chart. Id go as far to say Nolan Allan looks like the better of the 2.

EDM is 2 and a half years older than Korchinski. And Howard is roughly a year older than Leonard.

Two very different players with different roles. EDM got sent back to Rockford too. Will be interesting to see who the better player going forward is but they aren’t really competing directly.

If you want to trade with TB, you must offer an NHLer. TB just dont care about young players since a decade.
I think the thought behind any trade for Howard right now is NOT including NHLers. Tampa does not have the cap space to add anyone, it's sort of why they're in this predicament. They can't sign Howard and keep him up this season so he burns a year of his ELC, so he's decided to go back to college for the final year instead.

Tampa either trades him for a guy who can go through waivers and/or picks, or they wait til after the season is over and he loses a ton of value because he'll be so close to free agency that teams aren't going to want to give up a lot of quality or quantity to a guy that can walk in August of 2026.

He's 1.5 years older than Korchinski and they are going to compete for a top 4 role. Vlasic already has 1 of the 2 LD spots locked up. EDM might play a different style, but he is the superior player and you can't not start him from what he has shown. If anything, we have Levshunov and Rinzel playing the type of role Korchinski brings on the right side. Howard has outgrown his draft stock a ton. He has very much shown he projects as a top 6 forward.

Rinzel is the Hawks most promising defenseman in the system. I know people have been saying Levshunov, but Rinzel has looked much better and is only 16 months older than Levshunov. I'd even argue to say Rinzel is still not as physically mature as Levshunov. The reason I'm stating that in this thread is to state the pecking order for trade propositions

You are certainly entitled to your opinion.
The pecking order on the team does not dictate the players value. Chicago is stacked on defense. The 4th, 5th best guy may well be suitable for a prominent top or 2nd pairing role.
Using your logic Chicago should expect a top line, (top pair) player in return for Mikeyev. He’s a 1st liner amirite?
Can’t believe I’m debating this. I’m not even a big fan of Korchinski.
A Howard for Korchinski deal is livable but Korchinski plus is (to me) a loss coming out of the gate.

They can’t trade him right now because trade deadline has passed, not because of cap. They can trade him after the season finishes.
