Speculation: Is this the greatest thread in the history of HFBoards?

The amount of beer i consumed the night Boston won the cup was incredible. My boss at the time (who was a Habs fan) said if the Bruins won the cup i could have the next day off.

I needed it off, let me tell ya.

Here are Dafoomie's highlights from Game 7:

In these Pierre is actually the one that brings up the possible Bergeron "punch". However, I know that Olczyk commented more than is seen/heard here. I thought that at one point he did say that he thought Bergeron knocked it in with his hand, but I despise him, so that could be part of it

His son was a sophomore playing hockey for UMass during the B's run in 2011 and I remember reading some of his tweets that were bashing the Bruins, and was not surprised. I'm sure he heard that at home :D

That video... Brought back all the emotions. :handclap:

And by the way that phrase, "we didn't lose to the British, we aren't going to lose to British Columbia", should be on a plaque at the Garden, yessir.

Yeah, he did. His infamous line that he spurted out in delusional glee as the replay was showing it was " right......there! right there! " as he was apparently seeing Bergeron punch in the goal even though in this reality, he wasn't.

Bottom line is from the first game of the first series to the final second of the final series Cup clinching game it was a two month roller coaster ride

It was like 4 separate books

Each series had intrigue, lots of drama and lots of revenge

The script if you are a Bruins fan was created in Hollywood and almost not believeable

They lost because the officials allowed Knuble to run Thomas before the lame gwg game 7.

Thomas not going to the whitehouse in January had nothing To do with April

Each game was decided by a goal and there were 4 overtime games. It was a series that could have gone either way, and it took a horrible turnover by Bennie Pouliet and the Knuble blatant interference for the Bruins to lose the series. Sometimes the puck doesn't bounce your way ( the puck bounced plenty in our favor in '11 or else we would have been bounced out in the first round against the Habs ).

Amusing to see that even after all this time, and the huge contribution he had during their 2011 cup win, Tim Thomas is still a very polarizing figure in Bruins history. Seems fitting, really...

Still a hero in my books.

I don't give a **** what he did or said off the ice or what his personal beliefs were. On the ice, the man was the best damn goalie the Bruins have had in my lifetime, and likely everyone elses' here.

I hear ya, I must have killed a 12 pack of Club Soda every game:laugh:

If I were still a drinker, I`d still be in recovery mode from the Cup run

Numerous deletions due to leaps from opinion to unsubstantiated claims to just plain bat **** crazy stuff.

Damn, what did I miss?

Watching these highlights again, Marchand was really a dominant player in that series. He easily could have been the MVP and it would not have been a bad choice. It took a couple of years, but shades of what was to come.

Gee Wally did the right thing, so I'll just say I agree with this and leave it at that.

I read the thread during my lunch break on my not-typing-friendly device in disbelief.

Back on topic, that thread demonstrated what a lot of us believed - that the Vancouver franchise has not been the same since that fateful night, June 2011. The team, front office, fans, city, etc. were scarred for life after that.

What is overlooked is this: a #5-6-7 Dman knocked out a #2, clutch scorer. Both were out of the rest of the series at that point.

Conventional wisdom would dictate it would be an advantage for the Canucks, as we lost Horton. However, it completely backfired. Crazy thing is, I think it was all mental. The chess pieces were all the same!

Aaron Rome never gets enough credit

That cheap shot on Horton didn't poke the bear it kicked it in the nuts

Bruins from game 3 second period out scored them 22-4

Those loser Canuck fans can blame the refs the league their team got destroyed

The season started in Prague with Tuukka Rask in net and rookie Tyler Seguin scoring on a break away in front of a bunch of us Bruins fans

It ended with rookie Brad Marchand scoring an empty netter in Vancouver in front of Americas Most Wanted Whitey Bulger

Who saw that coming

By the way, I love how the non-excuse makers in that thread admit Sedin "just stood there and took it" from Marchand. Though I'd like to remind them, he not only "just stood there and took it", he turned to the ref and whined "Are you going to do something about this!!??", as if he wasn't a grown man and NHL hockey player who could/should do something himself.
