Is There A Spot On This Team For Robertson?

I think he's cooked.

At least with this organization. Maybe moving him will wake him up but I don't think he needs a mental reset per se, he's just not good enough outside his shot and he can never even use it.
Is Domi, Holmberg, Kampf cooked too? Robertson has more goals than all three of them. I do think he’s at the end of the rope but he’s got to play with better players. His most common linemate this year has been Holmberg who isn’t an NHL player. I will also say he’s not costing the team defensively which Berube cares about the most.

Steven Lorentz has as many points as Robertson, Reaves and Holmberg combined. Steven Lorentz...

This guy and Holmberg need to sit for a while for some Marlies. We need to find depth scoring of any kind.
Yeah, having basically five to six offensive deadweights in the bottom six is just too much. Kampf, Lorentz, Dewar, Holmberg, Reaves, Robertson all basically featuring is a little ridiculous to say the least. Compound that with Domi's struggles and it gets pretty ugly.

Lorentz I can give a pass to because he wasn't acquired for offense and he plays the fourth line role to a tee plus brings some jam, and he's a hometown boy. I have no issue with him, he also earned his spot in his camp. Dewar too I don't mind, versatile player and a pretty solid fourth liner who can PK and is defensively responsible. Holmberg I can tolerate as a fourth liner.

The rest are becoming a serious problem though, especially with Reaves and Kampf and what they make.

You don't get promoted to playing with the top guys until you earn it. And that means producing (or at the very least contributing) even when your linemates are deadweights.

1 goal (& point) in 16 games doesn't warrant getting that shot.

For the record, Lorentz has been playing on the 4th line almost entirely with Kampf & Reaves and he's got 3 already. And that's not even his role. For Nick, he's a shooter so unless he finds a way to score he's not getting any better opportunities here.

Did McMann produce with the deadweights when he got bumped up ? All his goals other than the speed burst have been tap ins in front of the net with other people setting him up. Robertson has shown when he plays with solid nhlers like Domi and Jankrok he can score. Scoring in this league is hard, go look at Slavkosky and Bedard goal totals so far this year.

He's only in there right now because of injuries and the fact he does work hard. Once a couple of guys come back, I just don't see him in the lineup anymore. He's basically become Nick Petan with a hard shot. One that doesn't even get utilized appropriately. Man, I was really optimistic he'd show us something worth talking about this season.

I remember last year some source (friedman?) stating that a 2nd was offered for him around the deadline.

It's likely leafs need to exchange him for another struggling prospect. Hopefully, Morgan Frost :naughty:

Minten, Grebenkin, Holmberg, and probably even Steeves are all better than Robertson.

Add in the fact Holmberg and Minten can play centre and Robertson's days as a Leafs player appear to be quickly coming to an end. He doesn't have any value at this point. Maybe for a seventh or future considerations.

But chances are he's waiver bait.

The market for an unhappy underperforming one trick pony is never great. Even less so at this time of year. If they can package him up with some futures at deadline they might get something.

Chances are they just get another reclamation project back otherwise.

The unfortunate reality is that Robertson just doesn't have what it takes. His claim to fame is his shot and it hasn't been good enough. The fact he has more goals than Domi doesn't make him more valuable or a better player.

Two wrongs don't make a right.
