Oshie would definitely push this team into contender category. I love his swagger on and off the ice. But I think he blocks the youth. How many big contracts can we have? That will come back to bite us when signing guys like McAvoy long term and Carlo.

Always liked Oshie's game, but I am not a fan of signing a 30 yr old player to the kind of term he will want for his last big contract. Yes, he is coming off of two straight career seasons in goals scored. Yes, he is a very effective player at the moment. But with Krejci's awful contract and Backes' term posing a problem, do the Bs really need to pay out good money for yet another player who may very well start declining in a significant way midway through a long contract? Remember, the past two seasons Oshie has played on the President's Cup winner and offensive powerhouse. How will his numbers be on a much more mediocre Bs team? I would not mind at all if he would sign for a few years at a reasonable salary, but I don't see that happening unless he just really wants to play in Boston.

If we do spent money on a UFA I really hope it's for a LHD.

Signing somebody who can play a 2nd pairing or 3rd pairing role would allow Zboril, Lauzon, O'Gara, and Griz to get a year (or another year) of experience w/Providence, and I expect that team should be a strong contender for the Calder Cup next year. And that would be great, as it'd be additional experience in a pressure packed atmosphere for the youngsters.

As well as assisting the present and the future, it gives us an add'l backup when the inevitable injuries happen.

Me, too. The Bruins should pass on Oshie—on any UFA, for that matter. It's bad enough that the team has to deal with the Krejci, Backes and. Beleskey contracts.

disagree on passing on any UFA, but they have to pick the right player if that`s the route they go.

This team is far from being in the position of luxury of being able to forgo the open market due to being incredibly deep. They need to look at any and all avenues to help address the warts they have. Some fixes may come internally, others might have to come via trade, maybe a UFA

This off season has the potential to be the busiest in recent years with the addition of the Vegas team

Alzner would be nice but I don't know how much he would get, and how many years he would want.

I would prioritize a top 6 wing but if we can shed some fat and afford a middle pairing D, we'd be in really good shape. Stay away from the FA market for top-6 forwards... I'm convinced we used up all of our and everyone in the league's luck on Savvy. You don't see many big name UFA forwards who get paid big time and work out in the end. Luckily with the expansion draft there will never be a better time to trade.

Unfortunately I'm not seeing any LHD UFAs who look like a good fit.

This is the best of the lot who wouldn't be commanding top dollar:
Kyle Quincey, Brian Campbell, Brendan Smith, Ron Hainsey, Trevor Daley, Rob Scuderi, Michael Del Zaster, Kulikov, Mark Streit

The amount of stress here is hilarious. The two "worst" teams in the play-offs according to many are in their respective conference finals, yet people are worried about the Bruins competing.

With a different role of the dice and better officiating, it would have been the Bruins in the conference finals. The Bruins will get there in time.

I would be shocked if Smith signed here. There was reportedly some bad blood between he and Marchand (and I thought Chara also). If you believe the rumors, it made things difficult for Reilly while he was in Boston.

I'm guessing, if the Bruins happened to be the high bidder, he'd find a way to get over whatever problem he had..
