I think it's a story of the general market.

Buyers market for mid-6 wingers, particularly ones on longer term.
Also might be a buyers market for fringe players who have upside (see Kravtsov trade)

Sellers market for top 6 d-men and top 9 centers.
Sellers market for cap space

I don't think so. In the last couple years where Chiarot and Savard were getting 1sts, Gavrikov would have gotten that and more. He probably doesn't get a 1st this year. Orlov only got a late 1st and he's a cut above, I think he gets more in a typical year.

It's definitely a great market for teams offering cap space.

The dmen out there are mostly marginally better than what most p.o. contenders have. In a deep draft, are they worth spending a first on?
