The last two player polls have been best “overall” defenseman, which has had Makar winning. The 23-24 poll had “If you could choose one defenseman on your team, who would it be?” and Makar won.

However, the 23-24 poll also had “Which player is most difficult to face in their own zone?” and Slavin came in 3rd behind Hedman (which, at the time, fair enough) and McDavid.

The only nervousness with him is his durability, and he's somehow been remarkable healthy... at least so far.
