That's definitely a fair candidateprobably Ryan McDonagh. hard to see an argument against that. just a different level of career success compared to any other defensive player, let alone dman, in the league.
I thought you were about to say “Lopsided”
Yesh, he did play poorly against the SensOnly guy to make Tanev play poorly was Travis Green
Otherwise his career has been amazing
I mean the Leafs were reported to be after Tanev multiple times over the last several years. In that time, he was already recognized as one of the best, if not the best, defensive defenceman. So you can tone down the west coast inferiority complex a bitone of the best for sure. WAS one of the best kept secrets when he was playing in the west coast. now that hes playing for the Leafs, suddenly he's THE best.
Playing like a top pairing defenceman at this point imho. The guy is just so efficient with the puck, blocks like a beast, uses his stick well, and takes hit after hit. He’s a very good 2nd pair d-man at this stage of his career.
Yes, Tanev is very good in the role he plays. But he’s well down any list of the to defensive D. There are the offensively gifted D who are better defensively than Tanev (Hughes, Makar, Dahlin) and then there are the defence first guys (Hedman, Heiskanen, etc) who are better. Tanev is in the top 10 though.Playing like a top pairing defenceman at this point imho. The guy is just so efficient with the puck, blocks like a beast, uses his stick well, and takes hit after hit.
Without question. If he was in a bigger market he would be much more knownSlavin
Yesh, he did play poorly against the Sens
Tanev is top 15 or 20 though.Elite PKer and great def dman. However, as many others have said, Slavin is the best at the moment.
