It's actually kind of insane that he can still play to this level.

In hindsight, Jim "Jet Black" Benning letting him walk from the Canucks was a massive misfire. But at the time, I legitimately thought his career was pretty much done. There were some really really rough years there with injuries.
 
He is up there in the top 10 easily for me. His only problem has been that he has had injuries and missed games. Other than that, he is top.
 
To quote Jim Benning’s famous words when he didn’t re sign him:

“We ran outta time”.

Yes he’s one of the best. The best in the playoffs so far. Hope he wins a cup.

I think coming to Calgary helped him, our off-ice staff is arguably the best in the NHL and the #1 reason the Flames are consistently in the bottom 10 (or top 10 in fewest) in man games lost to injury.
 
McDavid is salivating #ComingHome to play with a defenseman who knows how to skate backwards and actually blocks pucks (not accidentally)
