Is Seth Jones A Locker Room Cancer?

Speaking of the Rangers, I find myself wondering if a Zibanejad deal might be of interest to both teams. One of the few deals out there that probably wouldn't take any salary retention.

I'd think I'd do that. Mika is 31 years old, could be a potential linemate for Bedard or if nothing else help the second line and provide forward depth so opponents can't entirely key in on Bedard.

Both Mika and Jones have 5 years left on their contract but Mika is 1M less.

Maybe a change of scenery does both well, but I will admit I haven't watched much of the Rangers to know what his problem is. However, he did have 72 points in 81 games last year so I would think it's more of a coaching and culture issue given his age.

Probably but not sure if they’d want a $9.5 million second pair guy with fox already established.

Borgen is a UFA after this year so in theory SJ is an upgrade to him for the next 5 years.

Miller is an RFA after this year and currently at a 3.8M cap hit. Are they going to be able to extend him? Keep in mind Lafrenière jumps from a 2.3M cap hit to 7.45M next season.

They also have Braden Schneider who has been good on the right side

Rather keep jones than take on Mika. At least jones was playing at a high level this year before injury. Mika is useless when not scoring and he does half of it on the PP and he is only scoring at a pace 10 points less per 82 than jones. Gross. If his contract was shorter or a million less I’d consider it. I think it makes the hawks worse though.

If only #4 could eliminate the 3-5 absolute braindead defensive plays each game.

90% of the time, he's doing the right thing - but the other 10% really hurts the team and momentum. He's been in the league long enough and has the toolbox (questionable IQ at times) to NOT make the mistakes he's consistently making. He's too careless at times for what he should be bringing to the team every shift. And for the love of god, will someone tell him to skate the f***ing puck when opposition gives him 50ft of open ice instead of the Pejorative Slured 90ft stretch pass.

Scratch him for a game or two - set a standard and hold people accountable for beer league mistakes.

Personally, I'm less worried about a few braindead plays here and there. He's never been a high IQ guy so that's just going to happen.

What irks me is the constant lack of effort. What is even worse than that is when he makes a bad play, he's the guy putting in the least amount of effort to try and recover from HIS mistake.
