The only thing I remember about him is they were talking about Canadian goalies and he was like "what about Cahhhtahh Hahht?" and nobody knew what the f*** he said.

I get it, everyone comes from different walks of life, environments, personalities etc… but damn. I grew out of my party phase in my late 20’s/early 30’s. I’m pushing 40 now, haven’t had a drop of liquor of any kind in five years, and don’t care if I never see the inside of a bar again the rest of my life. I will have a few puffs in the evening after the kids go to bed to unwind and that’s pretty much it. I can’t imagine being 50 or however old RA is and still be acting like a booze fueled frat boy. I’d be embarrassed.

I don’t know if he has kids or not but if so.. yikes. Get your shit together.

Yeah I agree. I wouldn't consider RA a journalist either but he clearly thought he had that kind of influence and deserved the opportunity to interview players immediately after winning the Cup even though he was hammered.

The only podcast I tend to listen to all the way through is 32 Thoughts but I'll listen to some of Spittin Chiclets and/or watch some of the clips. It's much better with Yandle.
Yeah i have listened to Chiclets since day 1. Probably have finished 85% of episodes and bits/pieces of 95% of eps. I tried out Pardon My Take (no longer listen) when it came out and loved the early Whitney interviews. So when he made a pod I jumped on it.

My point in saying I’m a long time listener is that I only listen for Whitney. As a result never have been a huge RA guy but there was a point 3ish-4ish years ago (maybe more) where he really started to hurt the show IMO. Besides the slobbery, he often interrupts interviews when they are getting interesting to ask something very basic or irrelevant.

If I was master of the universe I’d have it be Whitney’s show (non Barstool bc I don’t care about them keeping up either the company drama) with Yandle as a junior host and Biz as a recurring/frequent guest host or interviewee for levity. I think those two are very funny without having to be silly/slapstick like Bissonette but I understand his name and appeal to the masses so whatever.

When Whitney leaves the show (he’s said in the past he won’t do it forever) I’m done.

Wtf was with RA's diamond choker? Who actually wears something like that? Why???? What are you even saying about yourself as a person when you do that???

He was an OG but the pod turned into a business and it makes sense to have real NHL personalities on rather than random fans now. Im sure he got a nice payout or will forever from this all.

Panthers were up 3-0 and came within 1 goal of blowing the series ie chokers. I'm pretty sure he mentioned having a rat pendant on the choker as well. The joke backfired on him, but that was the intent of it.

So he knowingly wore a diamond choker as a gag against the Panthers, and went onto the ice (side note - who the hell even gave him access?) to chirp the team after they won the Cup?

Or was he seriously trying to congratulate them and then somehow forgot he was still wearing it?

Glad to see there's actually engagement on the topic of the thread rather than what used to happen any time SC was mentioned on HF. "Pffft, you think a sophisticated gentleman like myself would engage with that balderdash? I'm much too good for it."

SC has put out an incredible product this season is particular and idc what anyone says. They've found the proper balance between locker room humour vs actual hockey discussion, the interviews have ranged from solid to fantastic (Matt Duchene last ep I thought was exceptional), Yands has been amazing when he's in the mix, they've provided legit insights (Swayman situation, Babcock obviously), and Sandbaggers might be the best golf content on YouTube. Biz has been great on TNT as well.

I don't know why people on this site hate on it so much. It's a great 3 hours of hockey listening every week.

It was a hair band.

If you watch posted videos, one of the on ice personnel even asked him if he stole it from a preteen girl, to further slam and embarrass him. Either way hair band or diamond choker, the dude was not right.

Pod is better with Whit, Biz and Yanz.

The one episode that Marek was on as a host, was almost as cringey as when RA is on. Marek trying to be edgy and hip was odd to say the least.

Yeah Whit is definitely the best of them all. Their interviews with players are actually pretty solid and I can appreciate that they aren't super formal/stuffy.

One complaint about the show I would have is that they often mispronounce player's names or get players confused, so it almost makes it seem like they aren't fully up to speed or educated on the topics they are talking about. That and the episodes are way too long - 3+ hours is sort of overkill.

First time I’ve seen that Barkov interview….dude is massive slob. He’s the kinda guy you’d be embarrassed to be around even in a group.

I do agree Biz can sometimes act similar ways but the difference is Biz is just more likeable and RA is like over 50 and looks like your drunk loser uncle living in his elderly moms basement, living off a large settlement cheque and just partying like a gross degenerate. He’s just so gross to even watch or listen to lol.

Hopefully never. The pod has greatly improved since he went on hiatus.

I used to defend his 'worth' to the podcast as the guy who did a decent job steering the ship to cover all the different topics/segments during the podcast, but seeing how well Whit has managed it lately, I greatly overestimated how difficult that is.

I imagine he does come back at some point, but I really doubt he's changed much at all. His social media presence hasn't changed a bit, still seems like an old angry man with a big ego who can't admit when he's wrong.

Not sure about that, at first it was take the summer off, get yourself sober or at least take some personal time and chill out. However you cans tell hes still of the shits in some of the instagram posts he makes, now were 3 months into the hockey season and hes still not back.

Not to mention he does all that while at his job... I get slugging back some beers at a game or at one of their events (after all, they've created two alcohol brands) but when you're incapticated all the time it's not professional or cool. You dont see Biz or Whit off their rocker every time there's a camera around.

Reminds me of high school when dudes couldn't read a room or a girl and were trying so hard to get action from someone who had zero interest in them.

I imagine when his son is a little older Whit will quit. Its probably hard now to juggle the two at times but I imagine hell have the kid in hockey and that alone will take up some time.
