1. McDavid
2. Mackinnon
3. Draisaitl
4. Matthews
5. Barkov
6. Crosby
7. Hughes
8. Eichel
9. Pettersson
10. Miller
11. Point
12. Aho
13. Hischier
14. Bedard
15. Hintz

HM: Schiefele, Stutzle, Zibanejad, Trochek, Kopitar, Kempe, O’Rielly, Verhaeghe, Larkin, Suzuki, Duchene, Strome, Malkin.
Bedard doesn't belong even on the HM list.
Zibanejad is cooked.
O'Reilly is completely cooked.
Verhaeghe isn't even a center, neither is Kempe.

You could easily find 5 guys to replace them who are both better players and actually play center.

According a very large number of Canucks fans, Hughes is the best dman in the league and has been Top 10 for several years. They've pushed JT Miller as a top 10 center for several seasons now too. And lest we forget Demko's reign as a Top 5 goalie
Hughes is the reigning Norris chanp, Demko was second in Vezina voting, and Miller is a 90+ point centre for years playing with grit and you think it’s a problem of a whole fanbase for rating these players near the top at their position?

Stay gold.

1 year ago, Erik Karlsson was the reigning Norris champ, Linus Ullmark was the reigning Vezina champ, and Mika Zibanejad was coming off another point-per-game+ season with strong two-way play.

Your post suggested it was an issue when Canucks did this in previous years (which I would assume included last year).

Yes. My point is that Karlsson is a joke of a dman and still won the Norris, that Ullmark was a one-hit wonder who lacked the sample size to anoint him truly elite, and Zibanejad (like Miller) peaked late and very briefly.

Smells like bait. Have a good day.
I dead serious, and I’m right, but same to you.
So your idiotic claim is Hughes hasn’t played well this season to back up a Norris win a few months ago

Genius logic
No, let me spell it out for you. The Norris Trophy is just the Art Ross for guys who line up as D. Unless the point totals are quite close, in which case it goes to whomever “is due.”
It’s not a good way to judge the best dmen in the league.

Ahh yes, the narrative that Hughes isn’t good defensively and is pure offense

Been debunked 100x over, but go off.

Mackenzie weegar is thought of as one of the more prolific defensive d-man in the league

He leads the league in turnovers and turns the puck over at almost a 3 to margin to taking it away
But he is top 10 in takeaways

Giveaways and takeaways have massive discrepancies from home and away as they are at the discretion Of the score keeper. If that is your measure for a good player you’re in for a rude awakening.

I guess the Panthers fan thinks Forsling and his 9 takeaways and 25 giveaways sucks defensively too lol

And apparently Hughes is “barely in the defensive zone” and has the puck more than anyone else in the league by a wide margin, yet is somehow supposed to have a bunch of takeaways. Makes sense…

And d-men tend to have a lot of giveaways, and that number goes up as you play more minutes.

Came here for a discussion about Elias, but ofc it’s been derailed by Hughes-stuff.

Last autumn, I would’ve said Yes. But this calendar year he’s been horrific - bad play, bad attitude etc. I once worked with the national team, and the old legendary material coach “Pudding” once told me that Pettersson is the one player with the worst attitude he’s ever seen at Tre Kronor. He was, apparently, acting like a spoiled brat.

That was years ago, but it could say something about his character and his struggles.

Healthy EP is a 90-100 point player with selke level defense and a top 5 C in the league.

Unfortunately we haven't seen healthy EP for an entire season in a very long time so you have to rank him significantly below that until he manages to stay healthy consistently.

Is Pettersson the top centre on his own club?
Miller's been getting the favourable deployment, he gets the majority of the Hughes shifts and our best winger is stapled to him so you could argue Miller is the top C for the Canucks based on deployment, and his development late in his career into a 100 point centre getting deployed head to head against McDavid in the playoffs has been astonishing. However, when both of them at their best EP is clearly on another level.

7-9 range
His ex coach said he is about that range but what keeps him from being there is consistency as he is the biggest perfectionist he has ever coached, so when things aren’t going right he gets frustrated and gets off his game too easily.
A guy who gets easily frustrated and taken off his game is never a top 7-9 pro center in the world.

Some guys can't skate well enough, for Petey it's between his ears and it's not because it's mental that it's easier to fix.

Still the best center from his draft class by a country mile

Since when was Matthews ever Selke calibre? There's no question Petey is above defensively. Come on now.

McDavid
MacKinnon
Draisaitl
Matthews
Pettersson
Barkov
Hughes
Crosby

in order.
lol.. stop it AM is the better defensive player of the two and is at worst the 4th best Center in the league. He might be third due to how massive an advantage he has defensively over Leon.
