Is Patrick Sharp's game over?

Is Sharp going to bounce back or are we ever going to see a 60PT season again?

He has been injured all year and even with his lax play he was on pace for I believe a 58 pts season

He is only 31 yrs old there is no reason he shouldn't bounce back next year
 
Minnesota series

If there was ever a guy that needed to score a goal in a series it is Sharp. Will Sharp be without a goal in the Minnesota series?

Sure his assists are keeping him from horrible year. His shooting % is like 5-6% so don't pretend to act like it is not a legitimate concern.
 
I thought by now we'd realize we shouldn't give up on players in a slump, considering Kane and all.

Patrick Sharp gets the benefit of the doubt every time. This is not a Sharp basher board.

Patrick Kane was young so we kinda figured he would have a bounce back year.


This is not about the injury at all guys.....


He is 31 years old.

Is he worth the contract?

I'll take 25G & 25A every year he doesn't have to hit 60PTS but man I mean his contract is looking heavy if he can't get us 25G a year.
 
I think this whole "Sharp sucks this year" narrative has been blown way out of proportion. He has been a bit snakebitten this year, but I actually feel like he has been skating well and looking dangerous.
 
Patrick Sharp had an awful SH%. That can be attributed to bad luck.

He had an 11.7 SH% last year and 12.7 SH% two years ago. His average, including this year, throughout his career has been 12.1%.

Sharp would have had (roughly) 11 goals in 28 games if he wasn't shooting at a such a poor percentage. That's a 32-goal pace over an 82-game season.

Is he worth the contract is a much different question- anyone recall the length? I wanna say 5 years but dunno for sure. I do have concerns about how his contract may adversely affect the team towards the end of the term. Even then, it's like that his overall play and presence on the team provide sufficient value, even if his production really drops later on.

For the next 3-4 years I'm not really worried about it.

I'd extrapolate using 10%, but I tend to be conservative.

You can't judge his shooting % over freakin 30 games. Yes it is a concern and of course we should expect a guy over 31 to not be as good as he was at 28, 29, 30.

However, his game still looks pretty good I'd say he's been a bit unlucky.

I've looked at his career percentages and 11-12% is fine very good for a guy that takes a lot of shots.

Bad luck I'm ok with that answer. He did have bad luck and then the injury. I just don't want all of the 5-6% blamed on the injury.

We need more out of him while on the ice. I'm hoping we get .40-.50 PPG from him during the playoffs. I'm not expecting a lot, but we need a little bounce back. We know he goes on hot streaks where he can out score Toews, Hossa & Kane in 3-5 game stretches. It hasn't happened this year. I miss the old Sharp.
 
This forum is beyond ridiculous at times, Kane has a bad year, trade him, Bolland is having a down year, cut him, Sharp isn't playing the best ever, get rid of him.

How long till we go game by game, Toews didn't register a point in game 1, I think we should bench him for at least the rest of this series, and probably the rest of the playoffs because it's clear he isn't contributing. Maybe we can then judge based on period by period, or even shift by shift. Once a guy has a bad shift they immediately take him off the ice and shoot him because he is a worthless scum bag.

You are ridiculous... This isn't about that at all. Where is the bashing here. There is none. There comes a point in time where if he is not a 100% and not contributing should he be on the ice?

If he doesn't average .40PPG in the Minnesota series should he be out there? I think it holds some weight.

I got fooled by the title of the thread as opposed to the actual poll question. No, Sharp's game isn't over. Yes, we will see another 60 point season from him. I don't know if he'll get his game back during this year's playoffs. I think it's just one of those seasons for Sharp. He'll bounce back next year.
 
Bottom line, Sharp had a lot going on family wise and didn't train the way he should have this year, don't worry about it. We'll be fine and Sharp will still come up with big goals on this run.

You offer that as if its OK. It is a MAJOR concern for me if he still has the fire and the injuries are piling up.
