4th line will probably be one of the best in the league in my opinion

3rd line could also be fantastic, largely depending on a) who's centering it and b) if Brown returns to his old self

So ..... are we talking.....??

King / Lewis / Brown

Clifford / Shore / Nolan

....????????

.... or are you including guys like Weal, Mersch, etc..... ?

King Weal Brown
Clifford Shore Lewis
Nolan

No, man.

No Weal. He may make the team, but he will be a 13th forward. I don't see any reason to change the third and fourth line:

King/Lewis/Brown
Clifford/Shore/Nolan

Why in the world would you put Weal in and Nolan out, anyway? Makes no sense.

One: Weal is a speedy creative player that LA sorely needs.
Two: I don't like Lewis at center
Three: Clifford and Nolan are interchangeable scrubs-yep, I said it.

King Lewis Brown Nolan Clifford were good enough to play bottom 6 on a cup winning team. Take away Stoll who is easily enough replaced for what he has become capable of producing and Richards for the same reasons and this coming season we not only get better but we also get younger and less expensive.

King/Shore/Lewis/Brown/Weal
Clifford/Shore/Lewis/Nolan/Andreoff/Dowd.

We have 6 great to very good bottom 6 players who are solid and then we can add 3 as needed one of which has an exceptionally talented O skillset and another that has a very solid sense of the game. The other two can throw the body and typically not hurt us. I think our bottom 6 is among the best in the league for the style of game we have been playing over the past 5 years and that we will be seeing an improvement due to the fresh legs of the kids coming up. Not to mention that we are getting some very solid bang for our bucks. You don't want or need a team of star caliber players to win a cup and our bottom 6 is pretty much right where I think it should be anyways.

Yes

It is going to be about youth and hunger. You'll see it in their eyes!

we have enough speed in our top 6 now, believe it or not - this isn't '12, we have Gaborik and Pearson now, plus Carter.

"speedy creative player" Weal may be, but he'll still be on the bottom 6 and very likely as a 4th line plug - best believe Sutter isn't going to have him playing 3C any time soon.

Clifford/Shore/Nolan was an absolute wrecking ball line late last season, and while I rather see Lewis at wing than center, King/Lewis/Brown has potential to be a helluva checking line.

Lewis has hands of stone. King, Lewis, and Brown will be bobbling pucks all over the ice. The Kings will roll four lines anyway. Looking for balance through the line up.

I think it depends on who's centering the 3rd line and Brown. I think Shore will center the 3rd line and I do think Brown will have a bounce back year. It will most likely be Clifford-Lewis-Nolan to start on the 4th line with Weal probably getting some games here and there.

I think it will be good enough. Shore got a long look at the center job and seemed to get more comfortable the longer he was up. I don't think he could be any worse than Stoll was last year.

for the job as assigned by Sutter, yes, they'll do fine. in the 2013 playoffs, Lewis was asked by and NBC analyst what his job was, he said their job was to be aggressive, keep the puck in the opponents end while the top lines get a breather.
That's how Sutter sees the top 6 vs bottom 6. Scoring emphasis, PP time ,etc, go to the top 2 lines.

Sutter won't roll 2 rookies at center, Lewis and Shore will most likely be the centers. And both lines are physical enough to keep the puck on the other side of the blue line for that 25 seconds or so for their shift. They're not going to strike fear in the hearts of the goalies, but they don't have to. That's how Sutter system rolls, as a puck possession team, emphasis is not on goal scoring. They're still a defense first group.

I don't expect Brown's numbers to climb very much, given his station. With King and Lewis and little to no PP time (Those 2 units will comprise the 6 forwards from the top 2 lines for the most part) , he'll be in the 30 -35 pt range.

His top production came from Kopi, 1st line and 1st Unit PP for a lot of years, once he moved, his numbers shifted as you'd expect. And that also depends on how much he uses that 3rd line as a shutdown line, which means a lot of shifts in their own end against top 6 forwards.

We could have the best 4th line of the game.

Clifford - Lewis - Nolan

These guys would annoy the crap out of opponents top lines.
And they remind me a lot of the McCarty - Draper - Maltby line,
the best 4th line ever .
Totally shut down opponents offense and score 30 goals.

But with Sutter every 4th line is simply and plain bad... well actually every line. His staying around WWE wrestling style forbids any fast action anyways.

I don't know what the hell you're saying, but I LOVE IT!!!! :handclap::handclap::handclap:

"Good enough"? No idea. Better than last year? Hell yes. Stoll...dude, Stoll. Gone. The third liners centered by him were anchored by his complete lack of offense and playmaking ability. Subtract his bad penalties as well and just about anything will be better this season.

You have to see how it plays out. Did anyone think the Kings 3rd and 4th lines were good enough in the 11-12 season? No. How about when they called up a couple rookies to play on those lines? I'm guessing most of us were thinking, "oh no, not Dwight "I sucked for 6 games playing with Kopitar a year ago" King", but then that ended up working.

If the top 2 lines do their job, then the other 2 lines can more effectively do their job. They didn't manage to do that last year. The 2nd line had a couple hot streaks, and Kopitar had a career low in goals. Williams then didn't or couldn't pick up the slack the way he did in the 2014 playoffs, as he ended the season with 2 or 3 goals in the last 30 or so games.

I think it will be good enough by addition from subtraction. Having Shore center a line of King and Brown will be way better than Stoll. Our fourth line will probably have trouble scoring, but if they simply possess the puck and don't take bad penalties we should be alright.

The bottom 6 can always be better.

But I'd say Lewis replacing Stoll between Brown and King would be a tremendous upgrade. And Shore replacing Richards will probably be a lateral move to start on the ice and then improve, so its a win from a salary cap perspective.

Clifford and Nolan are Cliford and Nolan.

Weal is a wild card. He should have a greater impact on games than Andreoff did last year right out of the gate.

I'm not entirely satisfied with it, but its got the potential to shine beyond expectations if certain players embrace greater responsibilities and others can re-establish themselves.

Brief jog down memory lane right there...
