Seemed fine until they lost 2 of their top 3 centres, and now Tkachuk.
It’s like removing Hischier and Mercer from the Devils, then add in Bratt.
Anyone expecting Ottawa to win without Tkachuk, Norris, Pinto and some games without Jensen against Tampa twice, Panthers, Jets are just not serious people.

I'm by no means a Green fan, but losing your 2C, 3C, Brady Tkachuk, and your goalies imploding is pretty tough to overcome.

Well that might prove to be the end of them. Maybe not.
I think they would have won a lot more earlier in the year if they had a better head coach. Same with Detroit.
Though I think Ottawa is better than Detroit.
He sucks as a head coach, but the recent injuries may have done them in.

Sens do have the easiest SOS remaining and in this 5 game loss they had to face 4 ridiculously tough opponents. So we'll see what happens. Detroit and Columbus games are critical. If the Sens somehow win all in regulation, they'll probably get in. I do agree that hiring Green was not a good idea, but he isn't the worst coach out there.

The Ottawa Senators are in the mix to land a playoff spot this season. The father of captain Brady Tkachuk, former star Keith Tkachuk, said they should buy at the NHL trade deadline.
Keith would love nothing more than the Sens to trade their future away to go all-in while his son is still an Ottawa Senator.
It's not like Brady is going to be around long-term to deal with the aftermath.

The timing was pretty bad, first Norris, then Pinto lost in back to back games, when both players were playing like the best guys on the team.
This team is a marginal playoff team under the best of circumstances. And circumstances haven't been great.
They are going to have to pull a rabbit out of a hat over a favourable schedule down the stretch to turn this ship around.
Leevi is stuck in Belleville because Forsberg might get claimed if they send him down, and with Sogaard out to injury also, they only have 3 goalies in the system.

...they still need to learn how to play Team Defense...on paper, they SHOULD be much better than their record shows...

They were terrible for 15-20 games, one finger too five teams in the league for 30 or so games, and are terrible again.
It's really astounding how good they are at raising our expectations just high enough so that they can have a second chance this season to crush our hopes.
That is what happened.
It's why they were a completely different team for that 30 or so games stretch where they had a top 5 record in the league. It too a chunk of the season for them to buy in and learn Green's system.
They are inconsistent and had some terrible games during that stretch. Then they lost almost their entire top 6, and some of the guys still around seem to have folded under the pressure of that rather than stepped up.

They're also playing 11-7 which is too dumb to even contemplate due to cap reasons I think.
None of the pairings are working because they keep cycling defencemen through and Travis "I put the slow in molasses" Hamonic is still seeing his 16 minutes a game.

If they want the Sens to go all in, Keith needs to sign a legal document stating that he will not allow Brady to ask out until the end of his contract.
In a perfect world where Brady wanting out early isn't a concern, I'm fine with the idea of building around him to try and win the next 4 playoffs, similar to what they tried to do with Karlsson starting when the Brassard and Phaneuf trades when they probably knew he was gone at the end of his contract.
There is no point in going nuts because we barely have any assets, and if we give up a 1st++ for a top rental, Brady is likely gone regardless.

Obviously you don’t watch as your team is 22nd in goals against per game lol, if any team needs to learn team defense it’s your soft team....do you watch games or stats??...
