Is Ottawa good?

They got lucky against Dallas; Toronto and New Jersey had lots of injuries while Washington and Minnesota were at the end of some really grueling road trips. They had some overtime luck too.

You sound like you need a hug. So much hatred on an anonymous board for no reason at all. How often do you get outside?

Well no, but the difference between Sanderson - Zub pairing compared to TORs top pairing more than makes up for the Stutzle-Tkachuk demotion compared to Matthews Marner.
While I want to second the "we suck - nothing to see here - move along", I need to say that we don't know it's any sort of "demotion" as we don't yet know what they bring in the playoffs yet. I get the sense they are both hyper competitive.

On the other hand, while good players, we know what Marner and Matthew's bring in the playoffs.

I am a Leafs fan, and will be the first to say I don’t want to Leafs to play the Sens in the playoffs. Toronto loses this series easily. For whatever reason the Leafs wilt when they play the Sens.

Good chance the Sens finish first in the Atlantic.
yup, some teams just have bad luck with other teams or dont match up well despite otherwise being the better team.

We've seen this show for 6 years now. Occasionally give some false hope then burn out by the end of the year. Every year there's some reason things will be different but they never are.

You didn't answer my question though...

Because you judge the whole body of work, it’s not unusual for teams to have hot streaks and come back to earth a la Montreal.

That said, Ottawa is a good team and underrated defensively. Toronto would be an exciting series if that’s how it shakes out.
Pretty sure the Sens are 19-8-3 since December 1, I’d say it’s more than a hot streak at this point.

Many people (myself included) thought hiring Travis Green was a bad idea. We're only 6 games in, but they've beaten teams like Florida, Tampa and Utah (who have had a good start themselves). This is all without Ullmark as their starting goalie, who has been out since their first game IIRC.

Are they going to make the playoffs? The east is a bloodbath, and the atlantic is a tough divison. Are they going to finally put it together this year?
FWIW, the Sens have looked pretty good to me most of the season, but they have a very small margin of error with so many other bubble teams snipping at their heels. A three-point lead in the standing over these other teams is cold comfort with two months of regular season left to play.

But the Sens have as good a chance as about the other half-dozen teams still in serious contention.

Also FWIW, Travis Green seems to have a very short half-life before he goes from copper to lead.
