Is Ottawa good?

Sens have defense covered to this point.

They did score 3 goals on the 5 minute major, but they still had 3 goals previously and if their PP can get close to what it was the first month/5 weeks Ottawa can be a trap team for whomever they play in the playoffs.

Let’s get there first. Two big games this week against TBL on Tuesday and Thursday. Could go a long way in determining who gets a top 3 spot in the Atlantic.

A bad couple of weeks and you think you're out of it.

Meanwhile teams like the surging Islanders and Detroit with the coaching change have come back from the dead.

I think the standings are going to be extremely volatile for quite awhile.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

I thought honestly when Sens were holding teams without a shot for 20+ minutes before a few times early in the season it was a fluke, but they might be smothering defensively and have goaltending to back it up.

Took them a couple months to get Travis Green's system, but they've been consistently very good since December.

They also have the 2nd easiest schedule for the remainder of the season (by strength of schedule), and are tied for the 3rd most home games left. They legitimately have a chance at taking the division.

Yeaaah, sadly. It's amazing what decent goaltending can do.

I hope my Red Wings can be good enough aswell, so we get a Wings vs Sens playoff series soon.

I think there’s a decent chance that both Ottawa and Detroit make the playoffs this year.

I love the Jackets cinderella story and I want to see them make it given the circumstances but I also think that realistically they will take a bit of a step back with all the injuries and some unsustainably good shooting %.

Unless there’s a massive resurgence from Boston or New York it seems likely to me that Tampa gets in and then Ottawa and Detroit take the two other spots.

I know there's been a lot of back and forth between sens fans and wings fans the last couple years, but one thing that might unite the fan based is that they're both breathing down the Leafs neck right now. There's enough time left that both teams miss playoffs still obviously, but the Leafs don't have some insurmountable gap in the standings either....
