"This year might be the year..."

Deja Vu.
You just summed up the existance of a 'sports fan.' Congrats.

I cant wrap my head around this idea that I shouldn't enjoy or even acknowledge any progression from the Sens until they've 'made it.' Some voodoo curse I'm not aware of apparently.

Yup. It’s been quite a while for those four bottom feeders. But I’m seeing the Sens making the jump into the top for and the Bruins being the club they step over.

The Senators can be very good. They absolutely dominated the Rangers last night but ran into an Igor who just said "no", which happens. But all in all it was their best total game of the season. They played very well in a loss to Vegas as well. They've looked better in those two losses in terms of complete hockey games than they have in any of their wins, minus the thumping in Utah.

We know they can be very good. What we don't know if they can be consistently good. They've shown flashes of brilliance in previous years and fizzled out. Not capable of keeping it going.

The changes they made in the offseason addressed some pretty big flaws, and should help to prevent some of the defensive unravelling we've seen in years past, but it still remains to be seen how the core of star forwards can manage consistency.

Time will tell.

I thought they would have more points on Detroit. But I guess if you get Igor'd I can understand.

It's really a miracle they even have 9 points.

Ottawa continues to find all kinds of different ways to leave you disappointed.

If this is them playing at their peak, and they don’t have the points to show for it, it’s going to be another disaster of a season when their play inevitably takes a nose dive at some point.

You're team is 7-2-1 with a goal differential of +17, and currently 3rd in the East. There's only one team in the league that has allowed fewer goals.

For whatever reason, you are overly downplaying your own team's performance this season.

They were a juggernaut 6 games in and the last 4 games looked awful. Maybe it's just a bump in the road but it's a worrying trend.

So diving into some deep research I've managed to decode some of this.

"Rizz" = charisma
"Gyatt" = strong excitement, suprise or admiration
"Beta" = used to describe someone who prefers other people to be in charge and may be shy or lack confidence
"Sigma" = referring to a supposed classification for men who are successful and popular, but also silent and rebellious
"Mewing" = The act of making your jawline more defined by putting your tongue to the roof of your mouth

So the Sens may have shown 'rizz' so far this season but the fans are still hesitant to 'gyatt' on the team because in the past we were 'mewing' as wannabe 'sigmas' when we were in fact just rizzless 'betas'. While there may be 'rizz' right now, there is also the reality that we may once again revert to our historically 'incel' 'chud' state of aggressive indifference.

They're alright but I think there's still at least one more year of the top of the Atlantic being Florida-Boston-Tampa-Toronto.
