During the most recent Leafs game there was a highlight of Michael Bunting getting high sticked against the Blues, which gave the Leafs a power play and Bunting happened to score a goal on that specific power play. It was also mentioned how his head snapped back and he might have been trying to sell the call. Because of that the question was asked if the refs are not going to give him the benefit the doubt on plays like that?
Since then when Leafs played the Red Wings on January 12, Bunting got a stick in the face, feel down and no penalty was called, when the Leafs were losing 2-1 at that time.
The same thing happened in the Leafs most recent game against the Bruins and he was bleeding, however once again no penalty was called, when the Leafs should have got a 4:00 power play and losing 2-1 at that time.
