During the most recent Leafs game there was a highlight of Michael Bunting getting high sticked against the Blues, which gave the Leafs a power play and Bunting happened to score a goal on that specific power play. It was also mentioned how his head snapped back and he might have been trying to sell the call. Because of that the question was asked if the refs are not going to give him the benefit the doubt on plays like that?

Since then when Leafs played the Red Wings on January 12, Bunting got a stick in the face, feel down and no penalty was called, when the Leafs were losing 2-1 at that time.

The same thing happened in the Leafs most recent game against the Bruins and he was bleeding, however once again no penalty was called, when the Leafs should have got a 4:00 power play and losing 2-1 at that time.

He does do bush league stuff once a while. Still remember he missed a good chance and instead of back checking and retrieve the puck, he just smashed his stick against the board.

He has taken his antics to far and needs to calm the heck down.
he is embarrassing
If you’re referring to last game, He 100% had every right to voice whatever “Antics” he felt was necessary.

He got butt ended right in the beak with a stick that drew blood. That was 100% a penalty. Actually,IMO he was rather subdued compared to how I would have reacted in that situation. Lol.

It's one thing to say his antics might be going too far. However, you can not deny in the examples I posted those should be called penalties 100% of the time, no matter which player is on the receiving end.

I agree 100%.

I’m not saying that he didn’t deserve to draw a penalty but his insane screaming on the bench is embarrassing for him and his team mates

You would not say this same thing about Marchand.
What, I despise Marchand, not sure where you are getting this from

He has not got the benefit since midway through last years regular season. Hey the refs are only human, Bunting is a jackhole, do you want to be known as the person who rules in the favor of a jackhole?

Do we need yet another "whine about the refs" thread?

Yes, yes we do.

Yes, yes we do.

I just thought it would be nice to keep all the pointless whining to one or two threads, and keep the others clear for (semi)intelligent conversation about hockey.

But, as my Grandpa said, "some people aren't happy unless they're miserable".

I wasn't whining about the refs. I was pointing out two examples of clear and obvious penalties that's happened to Michael Bunting, which should have resulted with the Leafs getting power plays in those situations.
And every other team's fans can and do point out similar examples about bias against their players.

Unless you want the refs to grind the game to a halt by calling everything, you have to accept some discretion on their part. Personally, I think if the refs did call everything, all but the dumbest players would quicky adjust, and the game would be better (for all but the bad teams, which is why Bettman would never agree).

And yes, there are some players who rub the refs the wrong way, and the refs are, after all, only (sub)human.

But is it really necessary to constantly whine about it? (Not necessarily you personally, but there are posters here....)

Isn't every thread eventually a whining thread?

The second one is a cross check but it's his own stick that hits him in the face.

Nhl refs are Assholes though I'm sure they'll hold it against him

Pretty much yeah. HF whines about the Leafs, other teams, other team's players, bad contracts, Bettman but OH NO quit your pointless whining about the refs.

Bunting is kind of bush league when it comes to his antics, but the officiating turning a blind eye to him also reveals a fundamentally petty and vindictive officiating culture that can't go unpunished either. Same bunch of goons that think they can forcibly shove an NHL player off the ice like they're part of the side show or run around like mall cops every time Wayne Simmonds starts a fight. NHL referees have to stop pretending like the players need to bow down to them. Want to act like a side show, go join the WWE.

Which is why you get involved with EVERY SINGLE ONE.

maybe leafs fans should STFU especially on social media trying to brag shit.

i recall kadri was leading the league in drawn penalties and then people started shit talking on social media about bob ross painting and what not and that was it for kadri drawing penalties.

they did the same shit with bunting this season and history repeats itself.
