If you actually look at the charts they will tell you. Crosby was very good defensively from 2018-2023. Just admit you're wrong and assmad about 2009.
Ok, so what is credible in measuring defensive play? Eyetest? Ok everybody was saying Crosby was the best two way player in the game for years. But that's not credible, you want stats. He has had seasons where he's been terrible defensively, like worst in the league, and seasons where he is good.

Crosby flat out missed half of game 7 and his team still won. Zero points in game 5, 6, and 7. That should say everything about his “contribution”. Why is it always Penguin fans who can’t separate individual performance from team results. McDavid in five games so far has more than half the points of 2016 “deserved” Conn Smythe winning Crosby.
I never doubt or diminsh Crosby, but to be fair, would Crosby had 2 olympic golds and the other Int titles, if he was Swede American or Russian?
No one knows either way. But Canada had only won 1 of 3 best on best Olympics before he started playing for them.
What does this have to do with what Crosby brought to his championship teams 10 to 15 years ago?
I think it’s to show that McDavid has improved defensively over the last few years and is a net positive. In other words, what else can McDavid to do that Crosby did to help his team win the cup.
