Is mcdavid too good not to win a cup?

The series is going great? They must be winning right? MacKinnon must be dominating… right?
One guy is a winner (MacKinnon) and one guy is a regular season dynamo (McCupless).

Ask any fan of any team which they players career they would rather have up to this point and 99% of people would take MacKinnon. It is all about winning Stanley Cups homie.

You haven’t answered my question?
Your question is dumb and proves nothing. We are talking about winners here. Not guys that can't show up in game 7s. You can blame goalies and management all you want, the NHL set the table to gift this dude a cup and he couldn't deliver.

MacKinnon stats in game 7s:

0g- 1a - -3 in 4 games

He sure does dominate those doesn’t he

The fact you’re trying to blame the Bouchard giveaway on McDavid, as well as things the resulted of “shots on goal LOL” shows such a blatant agenda you’re not even worth giving the attention to.
Did you watch it? I think Bouchard sucks at defense, but I wont even say hes dumb enough to throw a blind pass in front of his own goal. McDavid called for it and yes, Bouch should have ignored him, but hes Mcdavid and you give him the puck when he calls for it.

We saw that he almost willed his team to a Stanley cup last year. Will he win one in his career or not?

Not if he stays in Edm for his next contract...

Zero prospects, no U25 talent, old roster, mediocre defense, worst starter & goalie tandem in the playoffs...

If he extends there long term he'll have better odds of missing the playoffs each year of his new deal than of winning a cup.

Out of curiousity, who is Edmonton's Guentzel and Kessel? I guess Hyman and Nuge are the comparables?

Also, does Pittsburgh win if they're facing the 2024 Florida Panthers? Conversely, do the Oilers win last year if they are facing the 2017 Predators?

Who is Pittburgh's Hyman, Kane or Nuge in 2009?

And Pittsburgh maybe has four Cups if they faced any other team than the 2008 Wings.

Crosby had a 50% GF% at 5v5 in the Pens 2nd and 3rd cup wins combined. There’s zero chance any version of the McDavid Oilers would win the cup if he broke even 5v5. Crosby’s a great player, and I’m not criticizing those playoff performances, but the idea that there’s something about his game that leads to winning that McDavid doesn’t possess is a crock of shit.

Put a career 3rd liner and an AHL callup who is terrible defensively on McDavid's line and let's see if he can maintain his PPG.

Is it even an option to try to load up a 2nd line with Draisaitl, let alone a 3rd line like the Pens did in 2016? Is it even an option to rely on McDavid defensively?

McDavid and Draisaitl already have been put back together this playoff. Of course that's never because one or the other cannot carry a line.

If you don't think that Crosby does a lot of things better than McDavid without the puck, I am not sure what to tell you.

If he if going to be compared to Wayne and Mario, let alone Crosby, his overall game is going to be rightly scrutinized.

Bouchard makes a BRUTAL pass to absolutely no one and somehow you two are twisting that to McDavids fault. It’s utterly hilarious. And shows an agenda not even worth addressing.

How is McKinnon and his awesome defense doing for him in his series so far by the way? With a VASTLY better supporting cast?
His teams not giving up 6 goals a game if that’s what you’re asking. His team has also won a game. What’s Edmontons series at?

Exactly. Give McDavid Trent Frederic and Connor Brown and defensive zone faceoffs and see if that line can be still productive 1st line to allow other Lines have:

-Draisaitl
-Kane
-RNH
-Hyman
-Skinner
-Henrique
-Perry
-Janmark
-Arvidsson

A.K.A Cup-Worthy bottom 3 lines with offensive zone faceoffs

Thats what Crosby did. Thats why he deserves his Conn Smythe and reputation of a ultimate winner.

I’m sure Crosby would have had twice more points if he played his minutes ”McDavid-Style” with Malkin and Kessel/Hornqvist. But not as many Cup wins. Luckily he didnt demand to play with Malkin like McD does with Drai but Instead he acknowledged he can form a good line with replacement level players to build 3 scoring line team

Don't know it was Sid's demand or not, but pretending that Sid didn't need help from Malkin is a lie. In fact Malkin helped even more %-wise.
PO 2009
Malkin factored in 12 points out of 31 = 38.7%
PO 2024
Drai factored in 16 points out of 42 =38.1%

Entire premise that Sid is somehow helping his team is a media hype. PIT plays better w/o him. PIT would win 3 cups w/o him easily.

Yep. Crosby was clearly a net negative for the Pittsburgh Penguins over the course of his career. Thanks for going out of your way to share your 100% accurate take in this forum about hockey

Don’t do drugs kids.

I think as a player McDavid is more than capable of winning a cup. However he might be too nice to be a leader. If I was McDavid, knowing how much the franchise depends on me I would be talking to management about their terrible decisions. Like why the f*** Stuart Skinner is the go to goalie. Or why not bench some of these players that f*** up time and time again. This is one of the most skilled players ever, yet he plays with some absolute bums and the management are deluded thinking that their offseason helped the team. I know McDavid likes to say that everyone is important and plays their part, they are all equals. f*** that, he should be saying me and Draisaitl are the best, we need help and if we don't get it we will leave.

McDavid with competent management, who understand the team's weaknesses and actively go out and attempt to fix them would win a cup. Does he win in Edmonton? He was a goal away last year, but things feel much different now.

It honestly pains me when Knoblauch pairs McDavid and Drai on the same line. You rarely saw this shit in Pittsburgh unless the pens were REALLY struggling and I know that team had way better management.

I wouldn't do it for a full game, especially in the playoffs. I think you get more out of both of those players when they are on their own line. I have not been a fan of their lineups for either game in this series although I don't think it would have made any difference based on how the games have gone so far.
