Is Matthews the worst playoff performer ever?

It’s funny because he also scored 0 goals and lost at the 4N as well
He did have two assists the elimination game in 4N; yes he's a goal scorer- but at least he was generating offence. You don't see that from him in elimination games in the playoffs ever.

In the playoffs I swear it's like he doesn't care.
nostrils wont say whats wrong with him, told reporter non their business.
classic nostrils
Where does nostrils come from? Is that from the dude named "Auston's Nostrils" back in the day?

I'm genuinely wondering if one of his teammates got beheaded like an 80's slasher movie, would Matthews enter a scrum?

Perhaps he would scramble to get hold of the head and put it back on the body. Especially if it's a handsome head.

Yes.

Jim McKenzie has zero goals and zero assists in 51 career playoff games. And Matthews is worse than that.

I prefer to lay off the insults regarding the guys nose and focus on his terrible performance and questionable effort.

Speaking of insults about a guys nose...

Remember when Zdeno Chara hit Max Pacioretty into the glass at the end of the bench and it broke his neck?

The Bruins and Canadiens ended up facing each other in the first round a few weeks after that hit, and Game Five of that series went to overtime.

Between the first and second overtime period, Max Pacioretty, who was hurt and out for the series, sent out a tweet that read: "The only thing longer than the game is Marchand's nose."

Classic.

Allen Pedersen is even worse, 64 playoff games and no points. What's kind of funny is that one of the worst players with more games played than Pedersen is the current coach of my Leafs Craig Berube. 4 points in 89 playoff games.

nostrils goes beyond this lol

I would cut Matthews a lot of slack if he seemed like a guinenly nice guy and had leadership qualities (e.g., blamed nobody but himself).

Unfortunately, he has shown the complete opposite. He seems like a disgruntled employee trying to get fired. He clearly wants out of Toronto.
On the topic of this and Toronto media, Dreger (one of the biggest talking heads in Toronto) was just saying the other day how Matthews is a stud and you don't even THINK about moving him. When these media heads become friends with the guys, they carry water for them, a good chunk of them are totally corrupted.

Everything about Matthews is off putting:
6th greatest gpg in the season to 84th in the playoffs
Throwing his teammates under the bus while he himself hogs up cap space
Extremely greedy, not only looking for max dollar, but minimum term to maximize dollars in the future
Passionless robot like Tavares
Injury prone and unwilling to tell the fans exactly what happens

Yet talking heads like Dreger only want you to focus on his gpg in the season and ignore everything else. The Leafs 100000% should explore moving Matthews if somebody wants to give you good or even great value.

Yankees don't have a culture of losing that makes their fanbase hate their own team like Toronto does.

Last night Leaf fans told everyone how they really feel. Marner was just the scapegoat, make no mistake, Leaf fans truly hate their own team. They hate all of the core 4, it's just easy to boo Marner because he's the one who's leaving this offseason. That blue maple leaf represents 60 years of failure, and the fans have nothing left deep down but resentment for anyone who chooses to wear that jersey on the ice. The only way they're ever going to win a cup is if they get a Mark Messier HOFer that has already won several cups and knows how to tune out the noise and get things done.

Yup. With the rumoured back issues it might be a good time to get the return he would command. I imagine a big US club (Rangers, Flyers, Hawks, Bruins) would give a massive amount to get him.
